Anyone has used the Astro Fibre service and managed to know the Admin login and password into the router? The default given USER login name cannot configure the router to use public IP. Any help will be appreciated.

Configuring it to Public IP couldn't be done from your end.

You need to call them to get it done, provided that they even got such service

Its available, requested and done, cost RM5/month from the astro fibre. You meant to say once its given, I don't have to make any changes from my end? I am actually not that savvy in those stuff.

if you paid for it, it is most likely already up. from within the network, you can visit whatismyip.com (or google any similar service) to check what the website detects your actual IP to be.

if whatismyip.com detects the same IP as promised by astro fibre, then you simply lack some basic understanding of the concept of public (static) IP. i suggest doing some reading. some basics:

1. public IP is the IP your router uses to communicate with the outside world. normally it changes every time you reboot your router

2. public "static" IP is a paid service - means your public IP never changes (reserved by the ISP), which is good for many different purposes

3. all devices connected to your router are isolated from the outside world; we call that a "private network" - each device gets a "private" IP

4. if you want all incoming traffic (from the outside world) to go to a specific device in your private network, for example a server, or a CCTV, then you need to configure "port forwarding" - basically telling all traffic coming to a specific port on your router (public IP) should be redirected to a specific device in your network (by private IP - it helps to configure this private IP to be static for that specific device as well)

The default admin login for astro RG21 router is:

user: rgw21admin
pass: rgw21admin

sorry, the above post was assuming you paid for "public static IP". judging from the price you paid (it seems too cheap for public static IP), i guess it is just "public IP" (dynamic, not static). in that case, some more basics:

- certain ISPs nowadays give your router a private IP instead of public IP - it is like your private network is inside the ISP's private network, not directly connected to the internet

- in that case, they might charge a small fee to give you a public IP instead of private IP. this public IP (not static, but dynamic) changes every time you reboot your router

- having public IP (even though not static) instead of private IP helps with many network-related issues

- in order to connect from outside via public IP, you need to either take note of your current public IP every time you reboot your router (by visiting whatismyip.com, for example), or you can use a service called dynamic DNS to always point a specific domain name (e.g. peter32.freedns.com) to your current public IP (this service is available for free, just google)

- if you want to know for sure if your router gets a public or private IP, check the web UI, if the WAN IP is the following, then your router got a private IP:
10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255

- if the WAN IP is not in the list above, then you can also check with whatismyip.com to see if your WAN IP and what the website sees are the same

My friend pressed reset on his RG21 and had to call the technician to set it up for him again

It's my friend's RG21 (Astro fiber installed only two months ago) and he says there is no option to input the PPPOE credentials.
I think he said Quick Setup only sets up Wifi

Maybe the login credential of the router do not have admin privilege.

Assuming that's true how would he get admin privilege?
Even if he has that access there may not be any PPPOE config page,
It might require a special app to set that up.
Upon installation of Astro fiber the technician specifically told him not to hit the reset button

There usually another account with admin privilege. It is not unheard of, last time UniFi and Maxis Fibre did this.

HI there, we could well be in almost the same boat.

1. Use rgw21admin as login and pw to enter the router set up.

2. Go <Network>, choose <WAN-configuration> on the left, and Add a new configuration.

See if he can start from there.

I have Synology nas that requires port forwarding. Astro Broadband provides astro RG21 router so my questions is that is the router allow me to configure the port forwarding or os it locked behind some admin access only?

i got 1 question here, how can i setup for just using 1 SSID only for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi network

Is rgw21admin really the password ? Tried them on both. It says incorrect
