I’ve developed a newfound appreciation for cars with upright windscreens and short dashboards. They just keep the cabin much cooler (most tint film is also designed to work better at those angles) compared to cars following this new hipster strend of overly sloped windscreens. Might actually consider this new Land Cruiser even if it costs what I think it will (extrapolating from US prices), but I doubt the version offered over here will be the badass 2.4L Turbo Hybrid like the US. We will probably get stuck with some tractor diesel shared with the Hilux or the geriatric 2.7L NA from the Fortuner.
Thread title has “USDM” but the TopGear video above is the EU version, which is a 2.8L diesel. US versions get a 2.4L Turbo Hybrid. If SEAsia doesn’t get some form of turbo-hybrid, zero interest from me. Shame because this is the kind of car that suits our shit roads and I would actually consider one but our only body-on-frame options here are pickup trucks with rackety tractor diesel engines or the autistic grandpa 2.7L petrol in the Fortuner.
Don’t bother with British magazines like Autocar when reviewing SUVs and off-roaders. They die die will always say Land/Range Rover is the benchmark, despite the cars being as reliable as dogshit.
