If Model 3 at 150-170k, Seal should be at around the same price range or min at 150k?

actually from paultan nov 2022 news it was 210k myr starting price ,if direct convert. but since then ev cars having aggressive price cut in china.

anyway, yuan plus or atto3 starting price is 134k rmb but in msia is 230k rmb or 150k myr. 230k rmb to 134k rmb is 71% increment.

so 210k rmb starting price for seal in china will be 359k rmb here or 227k myr.

also price in sg really kek

taiwan media always hostile to mainland news except a few.

impossible they forget already 1 year ago their artist 林志颖 banged his model X and almost getting killed in the accident due to battery combustion ?

and now tesla using byd battery, so when they tembak byd they indirectly also tembak tesla.

and tesla got another problem which is brake malfunction, they can see the brake light on but the car didnt slow down.

and i think since 2019 they changed the braking mechanism. if you release the power pedal, it will automatically start braking although u still have dedicated brake on the side.

so when near accident, ppl may forgot the mechanism and step on the power pedal thinking it is brake pedal.

Yesterday SA told me already over 1.3k, but their company will continue the free gift package until further notice.

Surprised with the quality of BYD. Interior is so nice.

Anyone know how will the government charge the road tax after grace period end in 2025? Follow current formula, it will cost above 5k a year for performance variant which sound abit scary just for road tax.

Performance variant has 82.56 kW battery capacity, so when following the guideline, it would attract basic RM160 since it fall under sedan 80-90kW category. The excess of 2.56 need to be charge progressively as follows:

2.56 kW /0.05 = 51.2

51.2 x RM0.32= RM16.38

So in total RM160+RM16.38 =RM176.38

Carbase has an easy calculator.....

https://www.carbase.my/tool/ev-road-tax-calculator

All you need to do is key in battery kW capacity and select vehicle type , i.e. Sedan or non sedan (SUV)

Thanks, but this is follow the current grace period offer by Government until 2025 right?

Because the gov have yet to revise the old policy in 2022. If follow that policy, I think Seal performance will be charged over 5k or 7k. I saw one schedule, it show all EV road tax follow old road tax, pre Feb 2022.

And also, the KW should refer to the battery capacity, the the engine power? I also bit confused on this, sorry and wish to learn more on this. Because BYD long range got one figure also use KW, is about 200++. Performance is 300kw++

I found this screenshot shared by friends, they also worry on the road tax in future, lol

https://autobuzz.my/2023/07/01/mot-ev-road-...lates-proposed/

I am going to hold on to the above statement from Anthony Loke because it will be pointless to make old tech (ICE) be taxed cheaper than new tech, (EV) it won't be in line with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

NETR outlines Malaysia’s goal of driving 80% adoption of EVs, achieving 90% local EV manufacturing, and enhancing ICE fuel efficiency by 2050.

So the grand daddy of it is to make EV affordable. That is why just a few days back, according to Proton CEO Dr Li Chunrong, Proton will be launching its EVs very soon. What’s more interesting is that they will be launching two EVs and the second model will be introduced 6 – 8 months later.

https://soyacincau.com/2024/02/21/proton-la...le-models-soon/

Incidentally, just about a month and a half back, Perodua has confirmed to make EV by end of 2025

https://www.carlist.my/news/first-perodua-e...-134883/134883/

So I don't think we can go back to pre 2022 way of life for sure

Ya, that make more sense, EV road tax should be lower than ICE. Think can still have some faith in Anthony, lol

Another thing I don't understand is the cost of charging and also how to choose the right charging station. If I buy seal long range, it's input capacity is 150kw.

I know outiside my house got "chargeEv" station, it's fast charging is 60kw, RM1.2 per minutes. Then how long will it take to refill the battery for 60kw?

I suppose to maximise the low cost of running / charging of EV vehicles, ideal case is to charge at home, landed property which have been installed with solar-powered electricity and minimising the use of charging stations outside.

Yes, aware on this. But I forgot to pull the cable for EV charger out from DB in store room during renovation in last year. So if now wan to do that will need to do alot of hacking for conceal. So was thinking how much to bear if I plan to get a EV now and charge at station outside my house.

I see. That is unfortunate because only landed property owners have the privilege of getting the house installed with solar electricity and thus the advantage of fixing a charging station at home and enjoying the lower rates or perhaps free charging in comparison to charging outside. Those living in apartments do not have the facility of charging(with solar power) and have to resort to charging stations outside, and I believe this is one hindrance of the sales of EV apart from the higher road tax for most decent powered models.

I think ChargEV is now charging based on RM per kWh and no longer per minute?

You can use this as estimate tools for cost

https://www.inchcalculator.com/electric-veh...ost-calculator/

They are estimates because no one will charge from 0% to 100%

but if you want to have an idea, using your example of 150 kW input capacity and 60 kW at fast charging... this is a good link that calculates
