LAND acquisition issues of the West-Coast Expressway (WCE) which have caused construction delays have been resolved.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi (picture) said the previously estimated RM980 million for land purchase has surpassed RM2 billion.
However, he guaranteed that all land acquisition concerns have been resolved and that all construction work has resumed.
Following the conclusion of Section 6 construction work, Nanta Linggi anticipated a major positive influence on economic prosperity and the local community.
“When this expressway is completed, it is expected to be a catalyst for other economic activities. Even before the completion, we can already see economic activity in this range,” he told the media during a visit to the Section 6 project site today.
Section 6 of the WCE, which runs 21.8km from Bandar Bukit Raja (North)/Kapar Interchange to Assam Java Interchange (direct link to the end of the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway or Latar), is projected to be completed by October 2023.
The toll in WCE for Section 6 will be placed in Assam Jawa and it is designed to serve a multilane free flow toll.
The R6 standard expressway with two two-way lanes will be able to save travel time between the main cities around Klang, Shah Alam, Puncak Alam and Kuala Selangor — with the travel time from Klang to Kuala Selangor/Ijok expected to be reduced by up to 30 minutes.
Construction of the expressway is currently at 80% completion and is expected to be fully completed in 2025. In addition, 80km of the 223km long highway will be toll-free.
The 80km route connects Tanjong Karang-Sabak Bernam (50km) and Sabak Bernam-Teluk Intan to Lekir (30km) under the supervision of the Public Works Department (JKR) (Federal Route 5).
Moreover, the expressway is also expected to enhance the tourism business in the area by attracting more tourists to popular spots like Kuala Selangor, Jeram, Batu Arang Heritage City, Sky Mirror and Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park.
In addition, small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) and local traders will benefit from the expressway, as a smooth network of transport links and business activities will increase in parallel with the more visitors passing through the area, as well as increasing job opportunities.
There's an exit at Trong, but will ended up merged with Taiping Selatan PLUS.
The West Coast Expressway (E32) commences at a junction with Selangor State Road FT31 which runs from Banting, Selangor and ends at the ramp of Changkat Jering toll plaza of the North-South Expressway at Taiping, Perak.
Last time i saw the purpose of this expressway are mainly cater for commercial, because it's shorter, nearer to Klang vs PLUS. Expected all the lorries going north via PLUS will swift to this highway, smoother, no hills, less danger for those big trucks.
