For those who use Logitech mouse models (or similar) which have "rubber like" coating and which start to have scratches or peeling after a few years:

1.Have you tried to repair/replace the coating yoursefl?
2.If yes, what product did you use and what were the results?
Would the rubber used on badminton/tennis racquets or hockey sticks work?

Please help, I want to try and repair this coating as it seems a waste to replace a good working mouse just because of the outer coating.
Also this repair makes sense if the cost of coating purchase is not excessive (say max RM100).

1. Remove that shizz
2. Replace with leatherette from shitpee/laz
3. ????
4. Profit!

You could buy the cheaper version at Mr DIY. Aeropak rubberized paint.

The 1st hurdle is to remove all the old coating before applying the new one. You could either sand paper the old coating off or use solvent like spirits of thinners to remove it. But i choose sand paper as it is more safer. Chemicals have fumes.

the grippiest thing that nothing adheres to and lasts forever is silicon sheet.

bind that to plastic with silicon sealant. cure time 36-48 hrs. sandpaper the plastic.

everything else gets shrekt by sweat and/or sheds

Not hyper scrolling wheel, I reckon it’s the middle click which is faulty?

Cannot scroll properly, not the middle click problem.
Normal use only, no gaming also.

This one easier to solve (vs mid click which often is a button switch that can be tricky to solder on), just change the encoder.



Hyper scroll mouse have a non-contact optical encoder, which is harder to spoil than a physical one you see in G603z

the switches always double clicks first before any plastic coating wears off or other problem

Just search mouse encoder, Shopee aplenty.

No need a long time. If the mouse everyday hot and cold with salty and oily hands, will break down the rubber coating.

I got Logitech VX and MX. In malaysia weather both rubber grip starting to becomes sticky and later peeling off after 2+ years of usage.

5 years bro, still going strong

Bros sekalian, the issue is the mouse still works fine just the outer coating has scratches and one part started peeling (near the thumb resting area).
The nearest comparison I can think of is - do you change your car if the paint work gets damaged (engine gearbox all working fine) .


Anyway ok la I think the system is rigged with programmed obsolescence
