Can anybody do me a favor and find out how much a 77mm hoya uv fiilter cost? It is the green/purple label uv filter. thanks!

The price is around RM160 if not mistaken.

I bought a 72mm b4, the labelled price is RM138.

mmm 160 is a lot...im getting a free 77mm uv filter from my lens purchase...i was thinking of selling it for usd20 (rm70 more or less)

Used is about RM60-80 here.

I just got a HOYA HMC 77mm UV Filter for RM130 which I think is reasonable. Listed price was RM200... Lucky I know the boss, if not pay thru my a$$.

the only hoya filter that i would personally buy now is the black label hoya super hmc pro-1.

i bought HOYA 77MM UV Super HMC Pro 1 Filter @ rm160 used but only 2 weeks old. brand new one around rm200 i think.

SHMC PRO-1 are 40USD or less depending on the diameter. Anotehr filter I'd get is the B+W MRC. Quality is virtually identical, as in they dont affect the IQ at all but B+W's coating is easier to clean and brass ring is less susceptible to expansion and contraction due to the weather. It might not make as much difference in msia since the weather is always almost identical..but over here, the HOYA can be a PITA to remove when it is real cold.

I see. That sounds cheap. I guess I'll have to really look around here in Malaysia. Everyone seems to blow up the prices unless you know someone who KNows someone working in the shops.

Or you can negotiate till they agree on the price. Most of the time if you walk into the shop already knowing how much the stuff is, they wont waste time trying to slice your throat.

Actually, both the SHMC / SHMC Pro-1 are identical, only difference is the filter thickness (5mm vs 3mm). The pro digital is also identical but it is super thin and without front filter thread. I would get any of these.
