Barbie is a 2023 American fantasy comedy film directed by Greta Gerwig and written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach.[6] Based on the Barbie fashion dolls by Mattel, it is the first live-action Barbie film after numerous computer-animated direct-to-video and streaming television films. The film follows Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) on a journey of self-discovery following an existential crisis. It features an ensemble cast that also includes America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell.

A live-action Barbie film was announced in September 2009 by Universal Pictures with Laurence Mark producing. Development began in April 2014, when Sony Pictures acquired the film rights. Following multiple writer and director changes and the casting of Amy Schumer and later Anne Hathaway as Barbie, the rights were transferred to Warner Bros. Pictures in October 2018. Robbie was cast in 2019, and Gerwig was announced as director and co-writer with Baumbach in 2021. The rest of the cast were announced in early 2022. Filming took place primarily at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, in England and on the Venice Beach Skatepark in Los Angeles from March to July 2022.

Barbie (2023)

Never in a million years did I think I would watch this at the cinema...

I did.

You know what, I like it!

Like Scream that likes to quote it is Meta, Barbie IS Meta without saying it over and over again.

The courage of Greta Gerwig to pay homage to Stanley Kubrick at the beginning os the movie tickled me well.... pink!!

Margot Robbie plays Barbie perfectly.

Ryan Gosling has some cojones playing Ken.

The whole movie is just so... surreal and everyone did great!

Not seen America Ferrera in awhile and she probably has one of the best monlogue I have heard, in a long time.

Is it WOKE.

Yes and have to add woke done right.

Equality is just that. May the best person get the part/job etc. Regardless of gender.

One gender does not have to berated the other to oblivion for the other to thrive...

The cinema usher at the front of the cinema actually made sure that I know I am watching Barbie because I gave him a ticket for the movie Barbie!!!

So I have to reiterate, I went to see Barbie live action movie and like it.

I have watched this movie and I enjoyed so so much.

I think it's due to part I'm actually watched Barbie movies during my schooldays with my sisters. Example, Barbie as Rapunzel movie and others.

And also I watched my sister play the barbie dolls.

Honestly when I watched the trailer, I kinda disagree they chose Ryan Gosling as Ken, but when I watched the movie, I changed my mind.

He's absolutely suitable to be in this character.

It's a fun movie. I like the soundtracks of the movie. I want to watch again for the 2nd time, but no time for now.

i think i shall go watch in the cinema before it get taken down ....
