Thats not an excuse. 100% shoddy production QA management. Do the buttons actually correspond to the 'new' orientations? Just curious.

You have enough to make a case for a one-to-one replacement. I suggest you take advantage of it.

the buttons correspond to the usual positioning of the buttons.... which means the menu button is still on top.... and now the 'menu' button is 'next track'

Apple's QC on the ipod has always been a problem since the extruded ipod nano was released. Creaky/hollow pad, nicks/scratches come with brand nib nano, and etc. I've personally experience 3 defective nanos in a row and I gave up on it. The older ipods don't seem to have problems of such. Do know that apple is selling a lot more ipods these days than older times.

It's all about the herd mentallity of ZOMFG he's/she's got so should I sorta thing. I have never come across an iPod buyer who bought it not because a.) Someone else they know has it or b.) it's the next coolest thing after sliced bread
