If they were disqualified, McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton would be promoted to fourth, giving him enough points to displace Raikkonen as world champion.

BMW and Williams under investigation

Details are not clear at the moment, but it seems there is a question mark over the fuel used in the 71-lap season finale and that has massive ramifications in terms of the outcome of the 2007 drivers' championship.

Should there be any significant penalty applied to Rosberg, Kubica or Heidfeld, Hamilton could be promoted from seventh position. A fifth place in the classification would give him the championship in what would be a very cruel and controversial manner.

Now that would be pethatic.
Damn Brits really pull that one off.

And another point, if they hand it to Lewis then there will probably be cries about "how can Mclaren be deducted points but not the driver!" whereas if they leave it as it is it'll be okay. Alonso's already won a world title and Lewis will win one another time.

Results stand, Kimi keeps title

FIA won't punish Williams and BMW for fuel irregularities, meaning Kimi Raikkonen stays as champion.

Kimi Raikkonen will remain the 2007 Formula 1 Drivers' Champion after the FIA decided not to penalise Williams and
BMW for having irregular fuel in their tanks in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Raikkonen's title had been thrown in doubt just hours after the race at Interlagos when it was revealed that both Williams and BMW were being investigated for having fuel that was too cool, something that could have potentially given them a power advantage.

Should they have received a penalty or disqualification, Lewis Hamilton would move up to fourth place and would herefore be crowned 2007 Champion.

However, no action has been taken which means the results will stand as they are with Nico Rosberg fourth, Robert Kubica fifth and Nick Heidfeld sixth, while Raikkonen will be confirmed as the new World Champion.
