He's not strong, he simply was lucky to be able to pilot the MP4-22 which was an extremely fast car[albeit the spygate].
Place Rosberg/Kovalainen in his position in 2007, I'm sure they'll be able to achieve the same feats. It's not going to be easy for Heikki either. Hamilton's the first black driver at F1[and a rookie at it], his marketability is extremely high, think of the rappers and the money, sponsorships they are attracting. Not just in F1, but in other sports too. [No racial issue and discrimination intended here] Plus he's a British driving for a British team, how more valuable is that? If Lewis becomes World Champion, he'll be the first black mixed race[or Hawaii descent that he claims] to ever do so. He'll be setting lots of records along the way. Speaking in a logical way one can only imagine the sponsorship he'll receive armed with those charming, innocent, gullible tone from a rookie.
"In 1998 Dennis delivered on his promise and signed Hamilton to the McLaren driver development program"
At age ten, he approached McLaren F1 team boss Ron Dennis for an autograph, and told him, "Hi. I'm Lewis Hamilton. I won the British Championship and one day I want to be racing your cars." Dennis wrote in his autograph book, "Phone me in nine years, we'll sort something out then."
I'm sure you can find more quotes to describe his close relationship with the team principal in his book. During early races with Fernando Alonso, he started showing the potential[luck?
] that he was able to do just as well. What not, you as the team principal had been paying this young rookie under your development program and now you're not going to use it to your advantage? To think of it, he may be the 'thing' that you need to attract a broader range of audience, ie showing that even someone who's not a Caucasian can be successful. I'm reminded of a program/advertisement Thierry Henry did for Nike few years ago, 'Stop Discrimination In Football'.
Sigh, I think I'll get banned from bringing up racial issues here, but it's just an example. Sorry if it sincerely hurts anyone.
It's the same case as if... you're a Malaysian running a company, would you rather employ and give advantages to your countrymen or outsiders?[not talking about costs to employ]
Aha, Alonso fan spotted. Kill me.
*edit* I'm just referring that in a way or another there is some sort of favouritism in the team regardless their claim of equality. No discussion about talents here.
LOL, then Schumi is an extremely lucky guy winnning seven championship then "In 1998 Dennis delivered on his promise and signed Hamilton to the McLaren driver development program"

imho Ron sees something special in Lewis, putting him in the race seat instead of Paffet (already a DTM champion) and De La Rosa (experienced test driver in the team) ; same way as ron signed kimi instead of nick - nick was under the Mercedes young driver program and had tested McLaren cars before.
yeah alonso wants equality in the team
Give the guy credit lar, its not all luck lar. I dont like Schumi either, but i can understand why he's so successful. he's a workaholic (he spend 12 hours at Ferrari HQ everyday during off-season) and a perfectionist ( he still setting his brake diff during his qualy lap at Bahrain 06).
