Remember this Williams F1 2004 'fangs' front wing?
No teams ever used it too.
Does not improve much though.

Hamilton spins a positive tale
Link ~ http://www.planetf1.com

user posted image

QUOTE
Hamilton twice went off the track in McLaren's new car on the final day of a three-day session at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.

On both occasions the 23-year-old beached his McLaren in gravel, the car returning to the garage on the back of a flat-bed truck.

Hamilton blamed the lack of engine braking for his excursions, one of the driver aids - along with traction control - now banned under new regulations.
It's becoming a habit now laugh.gif

still remember that. i always think that front wing cost them the season. the previous season was a good one for them.
*
Me too.
Previous year they were roaring...finishing 3rd (JPM) and 5th (Ralf) in the standings.
I thought surely in 2004 with those 'menacing' front wing...they can end Ferrari's domination.
Damn I really hated Schumi from 2000-2004 laugh.gif

QUOTE(karhoe @ Jan 17 2008, 01:23 PM)
Engine braking banned in F1? If that is the case, wouldn't it be very damaging to the brakes? And we won't get to hear the roaring sounds of the engine when downshifting.
*
If that really happens...then F1 has become yawn.gif

To me, Ferrari's (during Schumi's era) has the best engine sounds.
Damn smooth transmissions drool.gif

Raikkonen coy on Renault return to form
Alonso was expecting worse
Link ~ http://en.f1-live.com

QUOTE
"We'll see what happens in the races," Raikkonen, at the circuit to test Ferrari's 2008 car, said.

"I don't think they (Renault) have improved so much suddenly after last season with the old car, but let's wait and see," the Finn added.

Maybe some of us does not know what engine braking is.

Let say you're at 7th gear and reaching a corner that needed 6th gear.
At 7th gear...just downshift once to attack the corner.
That's engine braking.

That's what I read.
Maybe you guys know more.

Drivers get one free engine change in 2008
A relaxation of the grid penalty rule
Link ~ http://en.f1-live.com

QUOTE
F1 drivers will not be penalised for their first unscheduled engine change in 2008, FIA President Max Mosley has confirmed in a letter to team bosses.

"It was agreed that each team could have one engine failure per car without penalty during the 2008 season," Mosley wrote in a letter seen by some media outlets.

"This would be the first engine failure suffered by each car," he clarified.

Kimi: Ferrari are in a great position
Link ~ http://www.planetf1.com

QUOTE
"Let's wait and see what the others do but we are certainly in a great position," he told Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

"We were expecting an improvement from the F2007 and we certainly got it. Above all though this is not the final version of the car which will run in Australia and I am very satisfied."

He added: "In the areas where it needed to improve, it has improved, for example slow corners. We worked hard in that area and I have got to say the results are good."

As for F1's new ban on traction control, Raikkonen reckons that all those drivers who are whining about it being a safety issue should perhaps find a new job elsewhere.

"For me it's not [more dangerous]," he said. "And if anybody doesn't like it they can always go and do something else."
