It's not really don't want public transport. It is taking public transport makes no difference.

If you drive to work need 1 hour, do you think taking public transport will be less than 1 hour?

Unless you can significantly save time, then people will consider.

Are you taking public transport yourself? If yes, from where to where?

Even if public transport takes an hour, at least no need to concern about parking at destination, need to focus on the road, etc.

Can either do some work on public transport (#productivity) or something else, be it reading, catching up on watching with earphones.

The problem in Malaysia is that for most people, there is no option other than to drive to get to their destination, especially for daily commuting to work.

Many tolerate jams out of necessity. Having a steady paycheck which puts food on the table and makes payments is a great motivator.

Try to find less-jammed routes if possible.

To me, honestly.
i rather ride in the rain, than to get stuck in the mother of all traffic jam during raining time.
just put on a raincoat and ride.

If many, if not most, commuters ride a bike to work or town, traffic jams can be reduced.

i got a friend.
every morning leave home at 6:30am, reach office at 7am.
to avoid jam and to get parking space. Sleep in the car until 8am.

Then stay back in the office until like 8pm++.
reach home at around 9pm. Only can spend like few minutes with his kids every day before they go to sleep.
then at around 10.30pm. he goes to bed.

Being awake in his own home for less than 2 hours everyday.
he spend more time in the office and in his car.

Really sad life

You can only do what you say if its non-peak hours. Taking public transport during non-peak hours really joyful.

If it is peak hours, it is jammed packed and uncomfortable.

Driving is a different as even though its jammed, you are still comfortable in your car.

Our development was never properly planned. We have industries in residential areas and vice versa.

It is all over the place which makes taking public transportation not really feasible.
