Can i know what is the paint that normally people used for base layer and finishing layer?

What is different btw nippon matex vs nippon easy wash?

Can i know more about painting process?
1. Clean the surface
2. Apply one coat of primer
3. Apply two coats of putty
4. Apply final coat of paint

I got 2 different quotes.

One quote me RM3000 with 2-3 layers paint, up to 3 colors, entire house including 3 rooms, yard, entrance, living, kitchen, ceiling

Another quote me RM4800, with 2 coat paint for internal wall cement only.

Why there's so much different? What things do i need to ask, check and compare? If not, we will surely go for RM3000 one.

canvas floor protection?! paint type? labor? condo? landed?

matex will feel powder a bit when u touch on it.. most of new house use this matex (basic wall paint).. some people with nose sensitive at home, try to avoid this..

easywash - is better and easier to wipe off some dirts even like Chalk drawing on wall.. price slightly higher only and recommend to go for this..

odorless << better somemore.. price around 40~50% extra than easywash..

usually lesser colour lesser price.. cause 18L paint cheaper than you bought few 5L paint x3..

nippon matex is basic paint (cheap stuff) for building construction where contractors just wanna get the whole building painted with lowest cost possible

nippon easy wash and the more expensive one come with different properties of its own, but in my opinion, easy wash is not really easy to wash due to its matt finish

i have used jotun easy wash in my room before, but because it is matt finishing, some time the dirt still get stucked on the rough surface, if you get those with sheen or semi gloss finish then it is easier to wash

for the painting sequence, follow the step below:
1. putty/skim coat or repair surfaces
2. apply wall sealer
3. apply 1st layer of top coat
4. apply 2nd layer of top coat

step 1 and 2 has a longer dry time, putty or skim coat can take more than half a day to dry depends on your mixture and environment

for wall sealer and top coat, follow the manufacturer instructions to see the minimum time you need to wait between coat, personally i will do step 1, wait for 1 day, then the next day i do step 2, wait for another day, then finally step 3 and 4 around 4-6 hours apart from each other

Will have canvas floor protection. It's condo.

RM4800 one using Nippon Easy Wash & Matex.

I think it's paint type to determine the price. Glossy paint is more expensive than matt paint. Matex is called cat kapur, is it?

The application of the paint is the easiest part.
The surface prep work beforehand is the crucial part.
Other tricks like what paint they use also matters, the can could be branded but the insides are elcheapo

For this "can could be branded but the insides are elcheapo"

How can we prevent this from happening? or we buy paint ourselves and just hire painter to do painting?

Yes. Very easy to identify d la. Also will have some leftover paint so you sure will know which paint they are using. Every type of paint area different in texture, looks.. no budget then really go to matex. Labor cost is high too.

Ask the details from both and compare yourself. Or get more quotation from different vendor as benchmark. So you will know which one to go. You may request got specific brand & paint. Ask them quote for you. Simple

i got a quotation for RM 4200 for 1000sqft condo, including paint, nippon. is that a good price? another contractor is also offering 1800 with paint, have not asked him what paint he'll use. but such big different in quotation... maybe i should buy the paint and find some indo workers to just go in and paint the home.

if the wall already has top coat and in good condition (no patching with putty or visible concrete) then you can just clean the wall and repaint with top coat

sealer only needed for sealing exposed concrete and plaster/putty, you can use your leftover sealer as base coat to cover your previous color especially when changing from darker to lighter color
