Just sharing my review for those who needs Interior Design service in Penang. I purposely hold my review until I really confirm this guy is really good only I write here.

Design Phase:
I started engaging Songsong Design based on referral from friends and we met up first and basically I told him the idea that I wanted. Basically my house is a double storey terrace. He also visited the house to get measurement. Then we go through a rough idea on what I wanted for my home overall. After a while, he showed me the first proposal of the design. What I recall is for ground floor, I am very happy with it but for top floor room, basically I rejected all of the design and ask him to change. He duly obliged and redo the design and after that only looks so much better. During this period, if I have any small changes that I wanted, he will definitely redo for me and also provide his suggestion to me based on his experience. As I don't have much experience in home deco and renovation design, basically I listen to him most of the time as long as the visual/outcome fits what I wanted. I really appreciate most of his thoughtfulness and suggestions because if he just continue to accept what I want, then I think the outcome will not be good because as someone not experience in reno, most of the decision I made will be purely based on aesthetic and not practicality so this is where he step in and provide his expertise and opinions. I remember going through many changes especially my home office room design but in general I think we took about 2.5 to 3 months to finalize the design. Once the design is finalized, he will help to source for quotation for me and from my side I also get some quotation from friends and roughly compare. I find that his pricing is also quite ok and I cannot really complain much.

Renovation Phase:
This is the part where I felt happy I engaged with ID because I realized there is so many interactions between different teams here. Wet work, aluminium, plumbing, electrician, carpentry and others. All of the works conducted here need to be coordinated and I am sure if I had done it alone, it will be very messy and gone haywire. So basically my ID handles all of this. There will be mistakes or something missed out and he will ensure all these are fixed. The only part I remember where I got very frustrated is the delay. The carpentry team got people left and ended up understaffed so my renovation got delayed because of this. But otherwise, all the workmanship is satisfactory and the outcome of the renovation is almost very similar to the 3D drawing during the design phase.

Post Renovation:
This is the reason why I hold off my review first because after the renovation is completed, there were some water leaking issues and it took quite a while to be solved but eventually it ended up as nothing major and as of today, I can say that whatever issue there is post renovation, my ID is responsible enough to make sure he asked his people to come and fix the issue even after I have made full payment. This is where I appreciate most because it shows responsibility and trustworthy.

One more thing, my ID is a super responsive and patient person, nice guy here so I am pretty sure you will be happy when you deal with him.

How much is the cost for the interior designing of your house roughly?

you left out the most important thing - price

I did briefly mention about the price which I said to be quite OK and comparable to other ID quotes. There is no point for me to provide you with a number because each renovation differs. If you have a lot of built in furniture for all your rooms vs little built in furniture in your rooms, the cost will differs a lot. Same like if you do additional extension or customization to your cement work. Also the materials could be different so it is really not that helpful in my opinion. Also, price now could be a bit higher already as I was told.

So what I find helpful is... it is better if you get the current quotation and then use it to compare with at least 1-2 more IDs.

In case you still need a number, this is what I gather when I wanted to reno my place:

- brand new house, just do renovation interior for whole house, prepare about 160k to 200k
- old house, redo wiring and new plumbing but with zero extension/zero customization - prepare about 250k
- old house, need to redo everything includes interior wiring and plumbing new + hack everything, maybe include some extension, prepare about 300k to 350k
*above for landed property, not condo.

How come you sounds like the ID but not the house owner

For my case, no separate cost for design because I engage him for the reno...so in my quote, it is all about the reno cost (eg. wet works, tiling, hacking, plumbing, awning etc)... maybe you can contact him directly if you're interested...

Mind to share before/after of your house? Just want to get some inspiration/idea

not many reviews & project showcase in their website/social media page.. somemore dont have proper office but address located at residential area..

maybe like some other forumer mentioned, at least share some of before & after photos of your home renovation.. interior should be good as exteriror might expose your location

penang do have quite a number of ID, i did met with some ID and experience is good.. like Zids Design, Ox Interior, Wool & Col, vsmartkitchen..

Not really comfortable to share my pics for privacy reason, usually people can identify the interior as well and roughly will know which housing area it is at...

make appointment with him...you can let me know...more than happy to join and then you can confirm we are two different ppl...and he is the ID...i'm the house owner...

I am not picking on you but you need to see my main 3 points feeling you are the ID not house owner:
1. No pricing of your reno
2. Do not want to post before/after (just interior also cannot, due to privacy reason)
3. Just keep on pushing ID's insta account

You can simply ask somebody to act as "you the house owner" when we do really meet up.
How convincing it can be?

Shouldn't that makes you think I am the real house owner based on your questions below? I don't want to reveal much more anything related to my own stuff as it doesn't benefit me at all but exposed things about me to public. 😉 those who is really interested and serious can contact the ID... and I am sure the ID can show a lot of before and after picture. The insta account has pics related to his work already.

Anyway, I am only helping to share a good ID contact to those in need. If you already make a conclusion I am the ID himself posting this then just ignore lo. Like I said, if you are really insterested. Contact him directly and discuss more or ask all info you want, then you will know all is legit. I really had a good overall experience dealing with him and only issue was a longer delay for my built in furniture which frustrates me a lot. Other than that, all good.👍

Writing a review without showing actual thing, not even try at all.
First time seeing a review that has no content rather than a reference to ID insta account.

I consider my own house reno my own privacy.

I already share the insta (can see some samples already) and give written review comment which I feel is good enough from my part. I never earn anything also.

For those who are serious, I don't mind even meeting up and have a chat about it. I am more than happy to share experience and info as well on what to take note and so on... everything done in good faith... if you are serious to know more let us arrange meet up, else tok kok sing song here for fun only... end of the day don't add any value... only know how to spread negativity... hehe...
