Hello everyone,

I noticed my wife Unifi Mobile (Bebas Prepaid) has VoWiFi enabled on her phone since more than a month ago. Immediately, I tried many things to enable VoWiFi on my Unifi Mobile (Bebas Prepaid, too) line but to no avail.

Suddenly, a few days ago (last week or this week, don't remember), I noticed my own Unifi Mobile line has VoWiFi turned on, too.

My phone:
-Xiaomi Poco X3 GT, MIUI Global 14.0.1 (stock ROM),
-SIM #1: Unifi Mobile; SIM #2: Hotlink Prepaid (data/internet line),
-VoLTE & VoWiFi carrier checks already disabled since the beginning.

Wife's phone:
-Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G, MIUI Global 13.0.6 (stock ROM),
-SIM #1: Hotlink Prepaid (data/internet line); SIM #2: Unifi Mobile,
-Also has both VoLTE & VoWiFi carrier checks already disabled since the beginning.

I tried calling out, then receiving call (called in), same network, different networks, landline, all work fine (can answer call and hear voice clearly, just a subtle lag/latency).

Does anyone else have VoWiFi turned on for their Unifi Mobile lines already? How's the call quality?

VoWifi is Voice over Wifi instead of your cellular line. so basically the quality depending on your wifi signal.

I not sure unifi, but if digi, turn on flight mode, then use vowifi can call and SMS like normal

Actually I believe this is might be a bug of MIUI
One of my friend also have VoWiFi icon appeared on his MIUI (Redmi) phone

There is a way to prove if VoWiFi is working, Flight Mode

If you turn on flight mode,
you will found that unifi mobile is not able to make/receive call
But Digi/Hotlink is good to do so
You can double check by puting your unifi to any phone beside of MIUI

For myself,
I have tried on Huawei, OnePlus, iPhone and there is no VoWiFi,
thus I assume this might be a bug of MIUI

Most of the time, Wi-Fi signal should be better as we are usually nearby the access point compared to cell towers (stronger signal), and far less congested (except maybe public hotspots).

Nope, just tested today - it WORKS even when flight mode is on (calling out to landline, same/intra-network, different/inter-network). I even called 100 and immediately greeted by its menu.

Even SMS works! Just tested between Unifi Mobile lines though (confirmed not RCS* as the other phone (Galaxy S10) doesn't use Google Messages as its SMS app.


*If you send text messages between 2 RCS-enabled phones, it will be an RCS message instead of plain old text SMS/MMS.

I hope it works for iPhone too.

Getting vowifi for unifi mobile on poco m4 5g, turning on flight mode, the vowifi also appear snd working, and unifi mobile can register on maxis 4g network already.

The same case for me - I am also using the exact same device and can make calls even on flight mode - but I haven't tested connect to Maxis 4G network as the Unifi signal in my area is good. (2G will work)

For devices like Samsung/Apple, you might need to wait software update to be able to use such function.

Xiaomi devices can enable it using a secret code though (*#*#869434#*#*) - after seeing Vowifi carrier check disabled - you can toggle WiFi calling (made calls using WiFi) on under settings. Not sure for other Chinese manufacturers though.

I might not need it on usual settings but it is anyway a good addition.

using poco f3 but no wowifi on my unifi sim but my xox has wowifi. am i missing some setting here. using latest miui 14 global too

Dialer dial *#*#869434#*#* , it will show vowifi carrier check was disabled, go to simcard setting, enable wifi calling

Look like only Xiaomi phone (POCO, Redmi) are able to turn on VoWiFi

For some model of phones, especially grey imported sets which are not meant for our this region/country may not have the right settings / network band enabled on your phone out of the box to have VoWifi and VoLTE.
So you have to enable it manually but some may work and some others may not.

Done that and enable for both sims. That's why I asked why only xox has vowifi icon on top but not for unifi

Already try switch the sims slot still the same. Volte for both sims are enable and can be use, only vowifi that only sim xox can use

Probably true what you said but still since xox can use vowifi, I kinda hope unifi sim can too

I am using Poco F3 too, my celcom SIM can enable VoWiFi
Thinking if want to switch from Celcom to Unifi5G....but since you can't vowifi with Unifi Mobile, have to think twice here.

Updated miui from 13 to 14.0.4 rom for poco m4 5g, the vowifi is no longer appear for the unifi mobile simcard.

Based on Unifi mobile thread,
2 users are able to active WiFi calling on their iPhone with iOS 17 (Carier 55 profile)

vowifi has always worked for me since day one i got my samsung note 10. just need to enable it last time.

Please share more detail on how is your experience for Unifi mobile on your Note 10.

unifi WiFi calling indicator appear on iPhone. But not yet working to make call when flight mode

Vowifi
Unifi mobile appeared on my Poco M4 5G since yesterday, and managed to make call via flight mode, changing other handset still getting vowifi signal. Before this no vowifi signal appear for this unifi mobile simcard. Just newly ported in from celcom prepaid two months ago.

Poco x3 pro miui version mini global 12.5.9 stable. New version update unavailable for my phone.

Digi prepaid SIM can VoWifi.
Unifi bebas (old SIM card since Unifi bebas first launched) can't VoWifi. Even though wifi calling setting turn on.
Maxis postpaid and hotlink can't VoWifi. Even WiFi calling settings can't be found under SIM cards settings.

For miui, dialer dial *#*#869434#*#* to disable vowifi checker, then go to sim setting will see vowifi option, enable it. Everytime you eject sim tray, might need to repeat *#*#869434#*#*

Already enable WiFi calling option under the SIM settings but no VoWifi icon display. Turned on flight mode and switched on WiFi also no VoWifi icon.

Own 4 unifi prepaid since first launched 2018 till now, only 1 simcard showing vowifi , the rest of 3 no vowifi

What phone model did you use?

Do you reckon it could be due to the SIM cards or we need to call CS to system back end enable each and every SIM?

Dont know, u could try, but contacted cs about this, cs said unifi mobile doesnt support vowifi , that was long ago. U could contact cs and let us know what is the outcome.

i already contact cs, he said both volte and vowifi are auto enable on supported phone and just need to the setting on our phone. he even guide me how to turn setting on s23 but still fail and he said maybe my phone stiil need update and just wait

Nope. Only volte. However xox can do both vowifi and volte

I tried with one 2021 4g unifi sim, can get volte but not wifi calling. Used to have this problem with digi needed to call them. Unifi mobile same operation?
