Went to Kuala Terengganu and Kemaman last week and below are my findings:-

1) Jambatan Angkat is awesome, very nice view from the inside

2) I didnt encounter any 99 speedmart and mamak restaurant at all….people here boikot mamak?

3) Any beach in Terengganu is way better than west coast beach (PD,Langkawi,Morib).Pantai Penarik and Teluk Ketapang is the best in the whole semenanjung IMO

4) Can find nasi dagang for breakfast,lunch,dinner and supper. Just like bkt in klang. Nasi dagang atas tol is the best (and damn cheap) among all that I’ve eaten so far

5) Traffic in Kemaman is busier than KT,the state capital

6) I can see chinese everywhere in Kemaman,but in KT only can see chinese in mall or chinatown

7) Muzium KT is awesome. Huge museum,clean and well maintained

8) Can drink beer and eat bkt in the middle of KT (Chinatown). There are few butcher shops in chinatown where you can buy pork in the morning

9) Keropok seems to be a compulsory side dish in both KT and Kemaman

10) Coffee in Hai Peng is awesome. You can see all the races dine here together

11) For chinese, must try fish noodle and crab yong tau foo in
Kemaman. Cant find these somewhere else

12) Seems like no proper taman perumahan in KT. Most of the people here buy land and build themselves

Overall,the whole trip is more enjoyable than I thought. Would go again next round to explore the islands

P/S : KT and Kemaman ppl, if i miss out anything pls let me know.Will re-visit again next year

kemaman busier because of kerteh petronas plants.

these are pubs infront of awana kerteh and also hidden inside church like building few km away from petronas plants, we use to hang out with farang engineers there, they are many thai girls working there also

i only go terengganu when I want go diving.

The environment under the oaktree at the beach in KT remind me of the beach in penang. Now penang no free beach already

Terengganu resembles Brunei quite a bit.

Kemaman is near to gebeng which is near to kuantan and affected by its culture so more Chinese there. Kuantan got a lot Chinese, even got pubs and clubs operating openly not underground.

KB also got Chinese most the electrical and car shops and hardware shops operated by them, but not denying the population are reducing as most kids will go to KL or Kuantan for a better life

Tried BKT at Kemaman before during kerteh trips

Went there once lalat everywhere in the restaursnt then swear will not go again.

Kemaman stuffed crabs are bad last time i tried

Crowded yes, but tasteless

Some recomended things to do is waterfall/island hopping at tasik kenyir, eat masak tempoyak ikan baung at kuala berang, daytrip pulau kapas/perhentian and candat sotong.

Oso some of the most beautiful beach in Malaysia is Tanjung Jara at Dungun, pantai kemasik, pantau batu pelanduk kuala abang, pantai pandak chendering and pantai bukit keluang.

Lol..nasi dagang kelantan eat can potong kaki.Dunno why kelantan dishes always put ton of sugar. Combo with kuih and teh tarik gula overloaded.


kemaman is never famous with fresh seafood, if got harga potong leher for tourist and not fresh. Want cheap fresh seafood buy at dungun/besut

Already there visit before. Just dead boring for me.

One of my ex is from kemaman, one of the richest Chinese family there.

Never visited kemaman, only pass by while on the way to Kota Bahru

yup terengganu has the best beach in semenanjung malaysia. the area near jambatan angkat really looks like oversea .

keropok is gooding tho, i'd go there just to eat keropok lekor only

Tganu is my favourite state to go in peninsular. relatively near (use LPT just took around 4 hours), can do scuba dive and much more.

here's to wishing i can retire there..

I travel around Perlis, Kedah & Penang for work & found overall Terengganu food more expensive than the mention states.

Food I love in Terengganu are Sate Lanang Jabi
& Nasi Dagang with grill chicken at KT.

Pulau Redang is a nice & economic place to chill.

Pulau Redang was a popular tourist spot internationally. Now hardly heard about it.
Terengganu suddenly turned quiet since last few years.

Try to go Pulau bro... my last trip to Pulau Perhentian is totally like different country already, people and environment like Bali or Maldives, with better view.

I also like KT very much... local did not fully appreciate the beach over there.. it's different level beach with clear blue water

Terengganu is nice for road trip. There are sceneries that are great.

Can't say the same about Kelantan though....

2) no 99 speedmart in east coast la...mamak not favourite here too..got many lot of types of food...dont need mamak in kelantan and terengganu

3) terengganu have the one of the best beaches in semenanjung laa..cannot.compare with west coast..even lousy kelantan beach better than any west coast beaches

Actually Terengganu is nice, it's just those who actually never been there kepoh macam macam. The people there live peacefully also. But maybe its the way they speak might sound like they are angry all the time ha ha

Pulau Kapas so so only for day trip. Hyper commercialised is Redang. And we'll publicised is Perhentian.

If you want less busy island, Lang Tengah is the answer.

At Night.....KT is just a "dead" town....

I went to Kuala Terengganu last time sending my sister study over there.

For a place that near with the sea, restaurant that selling seafood is expensive.

Restaurant cleanliness is sucks.

Shops are closing so early. If you arrived on Friday, majority of the places are closed.

While if in KL/Selangor, tons of shops still open on Saturday and Sunday.

I don't think I have a good experience visiting there
