Might as well open a digital banking in EU and buy into EUR - at least transfering back n forth is easy but I doubt can put so much money also.

Just download Alipay and put your credit card as payment then transfer directly to their Alipay.

OK. Here's what I have recently researched on about using Wechat Pay (China wallet):


1. Wechat Pay (China wallet) and Wechat Pay (Ringgit wallet) are not connected. So there is no way to convert our Ringgit to RMB between these 2 wallets.

2. Foreigners can now use Wechat Pay (China wallet) in most scenarios just like the local Chinese. In our case, simply bind our Malaysian bank card (credit card or debit card) to Wechat Pay (China wallet). A pre-authorise fee (cant remember, but just a few cents) will be charged to verify our card, but will be refunded after the verification.

3. Once our bank card is linked to Wechat Pay (China wallet), we can spend like the local Chinese (like buying groceries, getting on buses, calling taxis, buying tickets etc). Jusst scan the merchant's QR code (or let them scan our Wechat Pay code), then the money will be deducted from our Malaysian bank card (conversation rate follows our Malaysian bank card). BUT, we cannot reload money to the Wechat Pay (China wallet), cannot transfer RMB to other Wechat users, and cannot give Wechat RMB Angpow to other Wechat users, at least for now. From what I know, this is the Chinese government measure in preventing money laundering.

4. Using Wechat Pay (China wallet) does not incur any card transaction fee for small amount transactions (below 200 RMB). But if we spend 200 RMB or more in a single transaction, 3% card transaction fee will be charged by Tencent.


This is so far what I know to share. I know people have been saying we can use Alipay or TNG in China too. But this post is on Wechat, so let's just focus on Wechat.


My question is (and this is related to my point 4 above), I would like to know which Malaysian bank cards do not charge overseas transaction fee? So that when I spend below 200 RMB, I won't get charged by Malaysian bank card. Has anybody tried?

The main problem is their channel back the currency to their own countries such as bangladesh, nepal, indon etc.

Now foreigners can register wechat pay (china wallet) without local (china) bank acc.

You need to bind/link the wallet to your local bank card (debit/credit). Oversea transfer fee is applicable for most local banks card.

Alternatively, you can bind/link the same using ie wise, trust (i use trust). No OTF
