Hi All,

Recently I'm doing research for Solar Panel, due to surge in TNB bills. Search around the internet and not many reviews on solar panels.

What comes to my mind is:-

a) ROI 5~7 years from investment value (Says save RM300/months divided by total investment value of RM20,000). However, there is an installment plan with 0% up to 60 months. Meaning you pay for Solar Panel instead of TNB.

b) Any maintenance issues? (E.g bird nest under the solar panel, bird shit on the panel and etc)

c) Used for 10 years and decided to shift/move to a new house. How about the solar panel? Going to pay labor costs to move to a new house?

d) Warranty issues?

e) Maintenance cost?

f) String vs micro-inverter (Majority is offering micro inverter)

There is plenty of company Pathgreen, AlphaSolar, VerdantSolar, BuySolar, Sols Energy, RES, Solaroo and plenty more. Some companies come with phone apps to monitor the solar panel as well. Every company also saying their solar panel is the best confused.gif

Do you mind sharing what is your experience with the company and solar panel pros and cons?

Thank you. laugh.gif

Do surplus able to sell it back to TNB to generate income? I watch youtube one review saying that nowadays no longer able to generate income and any surplus will bring forward / roll over to next month's usage. Any surplus will be expired on 31/12 (end of the year).

Do verdant offer any installment plan with 0% interest? if yes, what is the maximum months for installment plan?

Microinverters are supposed to be more efficient but they will be a maintenance nightmare if your roof is high and hard to access. I would stick to normal inverters as they are cheaper too.

But if your roof is easy access or panels on the ground then microinverters is the way to go if you can afford it

Doing my research that TNB per month RM300 electricity, most likely solar specialist will propose to use 8 panels of solar that 4.5 KWP that approximately RM260~280 offset from TNB.

Thinking about the future, TNB charges may increase anytime soon. To prevent that we may need to think ahead

NEM rakyat still have quota, don't jump the gun too early since your bill only rm300. Price is on downward trend but not reflected by those vendors. And supposely regualations will be loosened on the 15th july but as usual no solid info! ranting.gif
Conditions for NEM, SelCo programmes relaxed

Do you mean the selling price of Solar panels is getting a downtrend due to more and more demand? However, is Solar Panel pricing under government control?

My house has frequent power disruption especially during 11pm - 1am.
Complaint to TNB and their normal answer is rosak di pencawang sana.
Was wondering if the storage of the electricity using solar panel can be used as backup supply during power disruption?

You need get a hybrid inverter (zero export) aka known as limiter function with battery backup. Otherwised you might goto jail for electrocuting TNB workers brows.gif
