Dear /ktard detectives,

I have encountered several times already. Some random number called me and said I called them from my number, in which I never did. Got 1 even screen shot and send over that I missed called them.

Doesn't happened often. Just perhaps 1x in a month or 2.

So, what could be the problem?

1. My phone got hacked? (didn't really installed anything except truecaller)
2. Just some scammers
3. Telco problem (Maxis, Celcom, Digi etc)

where is that guy on celcom that miss call hundreds of ppl by itself?

same...last week got one call also..he said i call him while friday prayer...im like wtf...i also friday praying but no bring phone...and that fucker say i call him 2 times...apa lanchau..i check my record no phone number i call...apa lanchau la...

They spoof your phone number for lhdn scam, since nowadays ramai orang guna truecaller and insta mark as spam, they spoof using legit people contact number and scam

ya... that's what happened to me! I go back to my call history and never did I call any unknown number.

So, what's happening? Is it really the telcos problem?

Can scammers do that? As in using your own number to call other people? If so, then we are in big trouble.

What if the scammer used your number to call your love ones and ask them for money?

Scam call. Ignore and report via Truecaller.

These people will just switch to another number if existing number failed.

this is not new. in this lowyat forum alone you can search got many thread people with the same case.
your phone number already leaked to god knows how many scam syndicate out there and used as a spoof number.

very hard bro. I've been using my number for the past 20 odd years or so. Changing the number is like moving to a new country

But could it be that truecaller is using our numbers to call people? Also, shouldn't the telcos have this problem in check?

Can, it happened to me before, they attempted to call my parents via spoofing my number. Lucky I already alerted my parents about number spoofing and all they had to do is call me back and at the same time sms/telegram me to ensure double verification.

Go google phone number spoofing, it's an expensive service, but possible.

At least a black n white is there.

Don't think the app can do such thing. Like others said, spoofing. Scammer can even switch their number to display as balai and others. Let alone our number.

misscall by what? ( whatsapp? or other VOIP ? )

or just phone call?

make sure your phone have anti malware /virus activated.
if not install a good one.

never know what happening... just maybe scammers tryin their luck .

The weirdest I had encounter before is, some Philippines number whatsapp me, say I give him this number. I say I did not, then I ask where he get my number, then he send me a screenshot of some random guy give him the number in tiktok dm.

Wow, this is really the first time I hear about this 'spoofing'. It's really dangerous. Aren't MCMC gonna do something about this? It really threatens the security.


As for now, it's just missed calls. At least that's what I've been observing. They called me back and told me that I called them. Ran through my dialed history and no unknown number was dialed. Was thinking whether I 'butt' dialed them but I don't think this ever happens to a new smartphone now.

Similar experience

Got one person returning my missed call. I have never called her. My call log and phone bill don't have the outgoing call.

Lucky just one person returning call only, not until hundred people returning call like the one in serious k thread.

thanks bro/sis. Mine is not that extreme case (touch wood) yet. Just 1 or 2 in a span of 2 months?

Isn't MCMC gonna do something about this problem?
