Hello Sifu-Sifu,

Just wanted to get advise from experienced people. I have a small house with just 1 bathroom/toilet and a kitchen. At the moment I'm only using water directly from tank but I feel that the pressure is insufficient. So the smallest pump I've found is a 0.5HP (370W) pump. Read that it's recommended for 2/3 bathrooms. However if I count the number of faucets/water outlets I have is 5. 1 For kitchen sink, 1 for washing machine, 2 for bathroom and 1 for toilet tank.

Will it be too much pressure for my pipes? Just afraid it'll burst if I start using auto water pump.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Suggest to consult a plumber or contractor to inspect the condition of the house pipe first before deciding a water pump. It could be rusted/ dented pipe that caused the low pressure.

We re-did the piping just yesterday. Rumah kampung boss so just do anyhow biggrin.gif All pipes now come from tank but I am thinking of re-doing the kitchen tap to get directly from meter.

Material is 1 inch HDPE water pipes. L and T joints are poly fittings so no pipe leak tapes are used.

the poly pipe can withstand the pressure but the fitting have to look out.
if properly done should be ok. poly fitting tends to be tricky for non-experienced.

if all piping is new and properly done should be no problem.

for pvc. please use the class7 to be safe. and make sure the fittings done properly as well.

*dont expose pvc pipe to sunlight. poly is ok

All these while a pvc pipe was run from meter to inside the house and exposed to direct sunlight. Kampung contractors really dunno what to say lah doh.gif . I replaced all the PVC to poly. Didn't know cannot expose to sunlight so good thing I got the poly pipes. Thanks for the knowledge share!

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. the L and T fittings. I guess if they burst then just need to re-do properly after I've installed the water pump. Thanks sifu for your advice. I appreciate it!

Btw I'm not sure if we're talking abt the same setup here. I'm actually planning to install the water pump AFTER the water tank. Basically the pump will be pulling water from the water tank and pump it into the house. Will that be any different?

if HDPE pipes..there are durables one..don worry about it leaks of burst..unless you din connect it properly..
my house also fitted with high pressure pump with the same piping..so far so good...

btw...it's advisable to connect kitchen tap straight from main......water tank is not advisable cos you cook/drink with it..

Oh there is a pressure control valve. I didn't know that! With that I wouldn't be worried about having too much pressure! Thank you for this!

no difference. we're talking about pressure in the pipe.
and as for the setup, yes the pump usually after the tank.

Bro I have a question about this. You say 50-50 tank water and direct water. If direct water pressure is strong wouldn't it stop the water from tank from flowing out since pressure from direct pipe will push water to the valve also causing it to close?

not 50/50 water source, but piping old mix with new piping. no burst (for old piping).

and i installed water tank mainly due to very frequent water cut from PBAPP. 1 week, 2 or 3days water cut around 8-12hour bangwall.gif
