Recently I've had an interview with another company. The interview and everything went really well and after a week, their HR's HOD called me saying they are ready to offer me the position with the salary package we've discussed previously. However, there's one issue - the background check is taking a little bit longer than usual due to this one company I joined a few years ago. It's not the O&G company as I've previously mentioned before. That one was pretty cooperative to my relief.
There's this agency that went bankrupted that I worked for years ago, that's why I was one of the staff that got laid off. I have specifically stated in my resume that I left that company because they were bankrupted. So this new company that offered me a position said "As proof we will need you to provide us with any employment letters, EA forms, salary slips, etc., that were in your name from this company." Fair enough, I provide them with the EA form and the salary slips, which I came to realize were stated as "payment vouchers". It's so vague I came to a self-realization that HR may not accept it as official salary slips. They went on to say they will continue to attempt to contact that bankrupted company to verify my tenure with them.
My question now though - what happens if they cannot verify my tenure with this bankrupted company? Will they retract the offer? Even if they cannot reach out to the company, does that mean my time working at this bankrupted company has been a waste? I tried to contact back my ex-boss from that bankrupted company and his responses were either half-assed or he sounded like he gave up.
Need insights on this.
