Can i know if it's ok to do plaster ceiling for ceiling height with just 9ft? Will it make a house feel small and cramped?

Let say I plan to do plaster ceiling only in kitchen area (approx 120sf), walkway (approx 100sf) and entrance area (approx 30sf), will it cost higher per square feet compared to doing plaster ceiling for whole house? Heard that there will be additional charges if plaster ceiling coverage area below 800sf, is that true?

Not necessary. My house plaster ceiling only occupied like 4 - 5 inches, so it doesnt affect the ceiling height much

But 9 ft ceiling height is already not much anyway, generally still not recommended to go plaster ceiling

Based on the most houses I've furnished so far, 9ft do seem a little low.
the minimum recommended would be 9.5ft. Of course, the heigh the ceiling the better it is. smile.gif

Nowadays plaster ceiling no longer require 1 feet or more space. If u r not installing casatte aircond or having aircond piping/hood ducting running above, half a feet is sufficient.

Go ahead if u really like the plaster ceiling, or it is required to cover certain ceiling stauffs

Nowadays plaster ceiling 4 inches enough already
If you really wanna save then 3 inches

If your ceiling is quite nice from developer then you could consider to skip plaster ceiling in the middle, then the sides do light trough / plaster ceiling with downlights

and like what someone else said, LED downlights are very slim nowadays, around 2 inches only

and on the costing, a flat plaster ceiling goes around RM 6.50 per sq ft, excluding the light trough which i think is RM 20 per foot run

Unfortunately I’m unsure.
I suggest you engage a few contractors and ask them to quote and compare price

Remember to ask them to include the plaster ceiling painting too
