I'll leave an update here for anyone exploring this in the future.
LED strip used is SMD2835 120LED 24v with plaster ceiling aluminium profile.
The brightness is definitely sufficient, just the LED strip alone is brighter than my dowlight+eyeballs combined.
But please do note that if you want to use this set up, aluminium profile needs to be more than 1cm depth so that you don't get dark spots from the LED strip. Or else, you'd have to go with COB LED Strip which is lower in brightness but won't have any dark spots.

Nice job, living room? the reason you feel the strip is brighter because its more evenly distributed and diffused for the entire room.LED strip used is SMD2835 120LED 24v with plaster ceiling aluminium profile.

When you purchase, the strip case should already be design for this use, usually is 1.2cmx.1.2cm and with wing to be installed to the plaster ceiling. COB LED will not have the dark spots, worth the upgrade.
