Well mine midlife crisis is different I’m 44, my single mom have to be admitted in back in hometown. Didn’t expect her dementia condition to happened way much earlier. I was expecting about 10 (nearing my retirement age) more years so I can retire n stay with her back hometown, but oh well, things don’t go as planned. If she is still ok today, I would still be working in this non profit as I like my colleagues and the work I do into foreseeable future n wages is not priority
Now it really shaken me up, coz nursing home is not cheap and the cost of elderly care will just go up in the future. I have to find another higher paying job to cater for this eventuality.
And yes , looking at the Jobstreet postings, it’s very intimidating & terrifying reading the JD , as I’m IT mgr for 18 years here but also does the works of Marcom/finance/admins/operations/etc. it’s very depressing & having anxiety
You are fine as you are already Mgr level, find another same level role or above at 40s is normal. Now it really shaken me up, coz nursing home is not cheap and the cost of elderly care will just go up in the future. I have to find another higher paying job to cater for this eventuality.

Unless you are looking at ground level IT roles like me which is very hard at mid age.
Most will instantly think you are not competent/something is wrong with you or downright discriminate on Age.
