Hi there,

38 and will be 39 in 6 months time. Been working in construction industry as QS since 2010, but have to learn the rope of being a project manager under a new company i went into this year.

The whole experience makes me feel futile as my salary still remain the same since 2016, as I tried my best to learn and explore.

Got let go on 2021 due to my incompetency despite the company promised to teach me as i said i was willing to learn, then i walked into a company that the boss promised all the benefits but never delivered due to his own hubris, and he still owe me half a month salary and one year worth of EPF.

Now under new company, i feel like i never progress at all salary wise, I feel stagnated despite jumped ships for past 8 years. I am burnt out, and I have no where to go cause these QS knowledge is all I have.

The shame of still being single and still living with my parents haunting me everyday, and i make sure i do my parts by helping buying stuff when requested by my parents.

I am thinking of migrating down KL to look for work, but my father already transferred the house ownership to me, moreover, my parents are already in their early 70s, can't leave them alone.

I feel the urge to go solo, as I am planning to start small construction/renovation as side income to supplement my current salary, and hopefully grow from there. I am planning to find small projects via my limited networks that i have with some sub-cons.

I am just tired of fighting and trying to survive. I feel like I have become more whiny, more sensitive, and more stubborn, I don't remember I that negative, I just overall feel jaded and I just want to fade away into anonymity.
