I have manage to built my own iptv app using ott player with playlist from searching the internet and installed on my smart tv

Many TV box which usually work fine for a year or 2 then MIA. Further the iptv that come from the box is nothing better than
those you can find from the internet.

Now with smart tv and ott player being available in most tv including pc and mac work wonder.

I am not sure my iptv will last how long but i am already enjoying all those channels of my choice.

Already installed ottplayer on my Samsung smart tv but what next?

I try Kodi before the configuration is a little too technical and kodi is very heavy
and i notice it uses quite a lots of resources and i dont think kodi work well with smart tv

But at least give some keywords for research purposes, you're giving information which are barely actionable, then why even open thread?

Like where you sign up for the iptv account? Is it through an app in the playstore? And some pointers to articles to where such a setup can be replicated.

A lot of maybes and very ambiguous.

TS went through a process over at least 2 years to do the IPTV thingy but doesn't show any pics, etc, just wanted to know the purpose of the thread.

After you setup the account you can begin to create a playlist



Then under the newplaylist you can click on setting

After that you can start inserting m3u URL

Once you have the m3u link created you have your iptv ready to watch from your ott player app

yes, you can download ott player from playstore or go to their home page to download for other os, such as windows or mac or in the case of smart tv go to their respective playstore to download

The last time i introduce ott player to built your own iptv, which have a few interested and successfully implement their own iptv using m3u playlist.

However, we have found out the m3u playlist is not as stable and often pause after a few minutes.

I then explore another iptv player which uses another playlist format ie. TXT format. What is good is that these TXT format playlist can put a number of same channels from different source.
Therefore, if one source is down it will search for the next source and so on. Further, they not only play m3u format they too play p2p as well as mitv format which is a more stable format.

May I ask all sifu it is possible using old smartphone to become TV Box and can use universal remote control or other alternative?

Yes, a tv box is almost the same as a smart phone.
Yes, you can use universal remote control or even your other android phone to control your old phone.

To use an old smart phone to act as a tv box, there are 2 way
1. is cast the phone to your tv provide your tv has mirror feature. This method is a little technical because every time you want to use need to set the casting.
2. The other casting method is using usb to TV. There are usb cable to cast from your old hand phone to the tv. This method all you need is on the tv on the old phone which you could
leave it as it is without much effort.
However, unlike tv box which is built for such purpose and power directly which don't carried a battery, unlike old hand phone which does have a battery the old phone get heated up much faster.
Which mean your old hand phone life will be shorten faster and watch out not to over heat the phone.

As for software loading and apk, it does not matter too much between tv box and hand phone.

I have try it before, but i think with the cost of tv box or device which is so inexpensive, it is better you get a device specially built for such purpose.

A google chrome cast old version cost around $50 Sing dollar. A 4K version cost about $70

My suggestion is you get a device and the old hand phone use as a security device where you factory reset and installed your banking app and secure app and keep offline.
While your everyday phone can use as you like without the fear of being scam.
The old phone can then be online when need to use banking app and then set back to offline.
