I always copy and paste files to bring to clients' offices for Presentation. I have been using Pen Drives (aka Thumb Drive) for many years. I wonder if Micro SD Card is more reliable?

microsd if controller kaput you can change with different sd reader, pendrive if controller kaput, abes total loss.
both can have nand chip kaput too.

however thumb drive can be easily attached to your keyvhain, so you dont loss it easily. i will vote for thumb drive if you are going to carry it everywhere.

Isn't pendrive from reputable brands with high speed a lot more convenient vs SD card (and the need for adaptor)?

eitherway, if just want to ensure reliability, get 2 pendrives and copy the files into both pendrives. This was what I used to do...

Both sucks.

Opt for NVME or SATA M.2 with USB case instead.

thing is the pendrive's connector will be pulled in and out of the USB port so many times for so many years.... so I guess the wear and wear is far greater than the Micro SD cos we can change the card reader...but the Micro SD card itself has no wear and tear there is no pulling in and out

depend on the card reader, there is possibility that microsd card will get detached from sd slot.

Both are matured technology and rarely fail… but usb drive more convenient as you don’t need reader. And Microsd might easier to lost it due to size.

I carry a small pouch wherever I go and the reader has its own pocket. yes, the micro sd card is super small but it is always inside the reader so I think should be fine

But a pendrive is not meant to be used as if it will last forever. Furthermore, they are relatively cheap nowadays. can just replace every 2 to 3 years....
(I still have thumbdrives from 2008 that I am using with zero issue... usually just to update bios of computers, or to put files to print at shop).

how often does your pendrive fail due to usb wear and tear? very curious.
