I restlessly gathered star after star in hopes of unlocking more story book chapters. I don't even know what actually unlocks the chapters, but like with most new games i consider it to be part of the experience.
Now i'm sure at least one of you will ruin this by telling me the prerequisites to unlocking the chapters or worse, spoil the story! I really enjoy star collecting in this one. The 64 some of the stars were really well hidden, and underwater levels made them torturous to even attempt. With Sunshine, the blue coins were such b****es, and underwater levels were still the suck. Galaxy's underwater controls are so awesome i almost enjoy it even more than on-land platforming. (the shell brake lights are a really nice touch!) Ah well, next weekend til my next play session. This post has been edited by nub: Nov 19 2007, 01:41 PM |

I've been going back home only once a fortnight, so far only managed to squeeze 2 weekends on the game. Already unlocked luigi though, let's see if i can do 120 stars this weekend.

Eh, i always liked the heavy yoshi best. Never really finished that game though, all i had was a bootleg copy that couldn't save, so every time i play it'd be a new game. Managed to somehow find the warps to the end level, but never managed to figure out how to beat bowser.
This was quite a feat, now that i think about it. I was a clueless 10 year old without internet nor nintendo power, and found the warps on one sitting! Though my grandma turned the machine off after that and i got so pissed. QUOTE(bidfordun @ Dec 13 2007, 12:59 PM) meh, while u guys can enjoy super mario galaxy, i can only play super mario 64 ds atm and try to get all stars. Do you mean on VC, or..? |

QUOTE(ricadoe @ Dec 20 2007, 02:37 PM) If there's anyone who had finished playing SMG and would like to sell it, please let me know. Don't have budget to buy new one but can afford a second hand. Salute you for actually putting effort to purchase an actual copy of the game, good luck with your search!I finished mine last week, but i do believe this one's a keeper. |

You guys sure are taking it slow. I finished it a few weeks ago, probably spent around 30 hours a week on it. I thought i already took my time with it, but it still felt somewhat short!
I love how different the game feels controlling luigi, even going through all the stars the second time. I wouldn't mind if they added another playable character with different movement mechanics at all. Ah well, i guess there're still those high scores and best times to beat... |

QUOTE(corez @ Jan 16 2008, 04:39 PM) Already managed to get 60 stars. So far only play this game on weekends. I believe the purple comets only come after you've defeated bowser for the first time.Did not go to the last boss BTW. I'm waiting to get all 120 start then only will proceed for the final battle. After Mario, Z-TP next. |

yes.
so in order to finish the game with 120 stars you will need to beat final bowser twice: the first time to unlock the purple comets, the 2nd time when you've gotten all 120 stars and want to finish the game to unlock luigi. btw, have fun with Luigi's Purple Coins. master the jump+spin recovery and it should be no problem, but otherwise... QUOTE(alvintan84 @ Jan 17 2008, 08:47 PM) I get what u mean since he's so careless all the time..I wonder thats his weakness/ advantage..can't stop only know I was actually referring to that dastardly evil purple comet star where you have to run on platforms that either shrunk into nothingness or started flipping non-stop as you stepped on them, collecting a hundred of the 150 purple coins scattered all over the yellow and green platforms, arranged to form a pixel art of the original super mario bros luigi, and then run back to the starting point, presuming you remembered to leave enough platforms unshrunk for the journey back, to collect the newly appeared star. |
