icecolddamncold, quite a number of accessories could be found online. Mudah especially.

Alternatively, u can try Sunvay Cycle at Sunway PJS. Am sure they have or would be able to source Kawasaki related parts & accessories.

Them_Me_You - Earlier this year, I was tempted to go for a Monster 796 seeing that I first fell in love with nakeds when I first laid eyes on S4R. Was quite jet-set to go to the showroom with my cheque book and paid for it. Until my mate took me to a place - and so happened a S4R was put on the dyno. 102whp with 8.5kg of torque - wooo hoo! Was freaking out already. It was like a wet dream for me seeing my first love...

Settled down and started talking and conclude what Keantan say is true. Over here - genuine Duc parts be prepared to pay 20-25% more. For most Duc owners - money not a problem. Problem lies to parts availability. I was not convinced till my mate introduce me a pro photographer that owns 3 Ducs in his garage - Hypermotard, Monster Evo & 696 Monster if I recall correctly. Even a busted O ring had him waiting 3 weeks. So told myself, 3 weeks nia - no big deal.

Running cost - tyres and engine wear & tear. Tyres, quite subjective - sports like medium compound that cost RM1K for a set of front & rear. Mileage? Clocks start ticking on 6-8K kms depend how aggresive you are. Again, thought to myself - still bearable. What knocked me off the chair was the valve clearance. I asked how much it would cost to do it - RM3K. And this is just for the labour I believe. If parts needs to be replaced, be prepared to rob a bank. Thought to myself "Sure or not ar?". Ask the guy with 3 Ducs - "Woi! how do u plan to maintain your bikes wor?!". His answer - "Who say I wanna keep it long?" with an evil grin. Bottomline, every 10K km clocked on mileage - valve clearance has to be done. Even u stretched it - at 15K kms tops.

Finally, got myself a 2007 Z750. Served me well for 3 1/2 months with 2 Betong trips in between. Upgraded to 2011 1000cc brother 1 month back and enjoying it since.

lucifah, so long as your toes can touch the ground - not an issue. Height is merely a mental hurdle to overcome for newbies, which I have been through it myself. It is all about riding confidence. I am 168cm in height and could ride a 990SMR with just tip toe-ing.

I bought a 07 Z750 as my first bike with little to none riding experience. Jatuh bodoh in total of 4 times and sworn to myself never to make the same mistake twice. Ride more often and put myself in many different scenarios to get familiar with the hazards. Upgraded to a litre super naked 4 months after riding the Z750. Clocked about 7.1kms since I got the bike late August - countless cross country & in country trips. One to remember, rode directly from KL to Phuket, 14 1/2 hours and 1010kms in a day. No regrets for taking up this hobby.

Principally, I feel that it does not matter if you own a 125, 250, 650, 1000 or 1700cc bike. If you have assess the risk and maintain strict discipline of handling the bike at your own means & limit, do not bother what others say. It is your money, your bike and ride it however you want. Nevertheless, with great power comes great responsibility.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Nov 29 2011, 12:12 PM)
the main reason i am very concerned about height is i'm looking for a streetfighter type of bike to ride in city / town traffic

i'm currently using a small scooter (ego lc 125)
i will probably never ride it out of town, so high speed riding is not a main criteria...

Do you have friends riding scramblers? If yes, you may want to learn using their bikes - that would inch your fear off heights. I had basic riding training on ER6N, and I made it a point that riding a "big" bike is not about how fast you can squeeze off the throttle - but how well you can maneuver on low speed. I practised a lot on lock to lock turns, 3 point turns - which requires you to either peddle the bike backward or push the bike and elevations - uphill or downhill.

I forgot to add another important point. My dad once told me, you do not own a bike if you cannot pick it up yourself!

If i recall correctly, ER6N should weight no more than 180kg with fuel. No need to do any weight training, practise the techniques required how to pick a fallen bike would do.

T600, Motoworld PJCC got a RS Taichi NXL207 for RM2.6K. Unit on display is in Euro 48. I wanted to try it on, but did not bring my undersuit. If you want other RS Taichi stuffs, they can bring it in as well.

I am eyeing on the black/red NXL207

If you want Dainese, pro shop is located at TTDI Plaza - same location as Naza Ducati showroom. You will be spoilt with choices and friendly staff. I even went in with my Viet made Air2Tex to their showroom and it was all smiles from them.

Arlen Ness & Berik - you can spot many varieties at Motostylestore SS15.

Lea Kraft Setapak - custom suits from scratch. Tailor-fit to your liking and measurements.

All the 4 retails I mentioned above, I have first hand experience with them and allow you to try them on and service with smiles! Unlike some others - dont mention la..

ER6N also tarpau me like flushing mahjong tiles day in day out - coz I am a slow rider.

In regards to bike weight, ride height & rider's height - I realize that it is all about the rider's confidence. I still remember how much I feared dropping my Z750 due to the bike's weight and my height which does not allow me to flat foot. After a while, I could flat foot as I tilt the bike diagonally. Rode it day in day out & weaving through the crazy KL traffic when skies are sunny and clear.

Hi all, anyone recommend superbike to service at which workshop?
Many workshop don't know how to service superbike and don't have the parts..
*
Whats your definition of dont know how to service superbikes ala big bikes?

I agree on the parts availability - i guess this boils down to what kind of bikes the workshop is pro at. Cant expect a 1-stop shop rite?

I bought, service and send all my bike crap to Sunvay Cycle at Sunway PJS. Not intending to promote or offend other camps, but I had so-so and bad experience with Wellys, Chia and Chear when i was shopping for a bike. Its bad enough they run the spec sheet with you during the sales pitch - dont wanna experience running through the bike manuals when nuts & bolts are taken apart.

On my Z, only engaging from neutral to 1st gear would have clunking sound. From 1st to 2nd - use to have it as I have the habit of shifting without clutch-ing in at low rpm, below 5K. Above 5K is fine. Hence, if I am on a "santai ride" mode - I would just clutch in.

Anyone has personally experience and tried the difference of a dual can vs single can full exhaust system. I am keen to know the difference for inline4 bikes that originally comes with a dual exhaust setup.

still dont quite understand about the downshift throttle blipping technique  rclxub.gif  does it mean that instead of hitting the brakes (rear or front), you downshift ur gear for it to slow and make a cornering? lol some sifus pls enlighten me  rclxms.gif
also, is Komine and RS-Taichi a quality riding gear? such as their jacket and pants? anyone using it?
*
Hats off to ikiey for the clear and easy to understand explanation.

RS Taichi FTW! I have 2 pairs of their gloves and a leather jacket of theirs. For me, it is much a better product compared to Komine, but at a higher price point.

sorry ah kacau thread.. but I like superbikes too. tongue.gif

I really liked it when I see a bike coming from far and does that throttle blip while slowing down for traffic or corners. I just love the sound of the blip.

bikes that I wish to own:
ZX6R or Z750.. naked wub.gif or full fairing is the way to go? tongue.gif
*
I would go with both! Muahahaha! I am a greedy person - working on my 2nd bike at the moment and its going to be a full fairing sportsbike.

Bikes are all about character. Both the ZX6 & Z750 are different category. Both bikes also has its own advantages & disadvantages. If you want a screamer with superb handling - ZX6 hands down. Town riding with easy santai mode ride & comfy long distance 180-200km/h cruise - Z750.

Both bikes are on different price range as well - where OTR price for the ZX6 is close to 71k and the Z750 (non R version) at 61K.

Yea, the orange is mine. I have yet to decide which sportsbike to go for - only time will tell.

Owner of the Black/Silver is upgrading to a new 2011 ZX10R.

We are still waiting for a ZX10 test ride.

T600 - you are right about the wind resistance for naked bikes. Strain to the rider, but it takes a lill getting used to. Maybe I am small sized, small shoulder width and weight 62kgs - beating from the wind is not too bad for me. I could cruise and go on from stops to stop at a near upright seating position at 160-180kmh with the small Puig windscreen installed. If you would to ask me personally, I have rode with this setup a max of 1010km in a day - KL to Phuket. 7 stops with mostly highway riding with disciplined stops at a timeline of 14 1/2 hours. No sense of fatigue as I was bloody excited about the whole trip and ride was smooth.

Now waiting for my sifu alkt to bring me to Chiang Mai.

Was out this evening for a short ride to Bentong for a quick fix of adrenaline rush and a refreshing teh O ais limau to quench the thirst. Rode with a budding rider, he took out the 1000SX. Test rode the 1000SX - it is a showcase bike for the workshop we all patronize. A true 200km/h cruiser - equipped with cat-less Arrow's Works slipons, PCV tuned with quickshifter. First time riding a bike with a quickshifter - bike feels good as the power delivery is very constant and smooth from mid to top end RPM. Brakes, comes with ABS - first nudge takes a lot of getting used to as my Z doesnt come with one. Dont quite like it due to the spongy feeling - perhaps I am not season or technical enough to utilize the ABS system.

For those looking for a sports tourer - do consider the 1000sx.

My humble Z - it is near stock. As is already, the bike's power is way too much for me to handle. Nevertheless, it just makes me smile whenever I take it out for a ride.

A closer look of a single can setup - looks like a Z750 isnt it?

man you are still bigger than me lol, Im 175cm tall and 47kg shakehead.gif

hey do you mind me asking how old are you? you must be a successful person, normally a person that can afford a bike like this in Malaysia, most of them are a kind of "priority first", assume that you have a house already, a car, a wife( brows.gif ), and a Kawa Z1000, and another one (assume that will be ZX10) coming, another RM86K.

Now I'm 25 I aiming to be like you in the future, now that is life!
*
At least you are tall - small framed maybe coz we have never met. But you are indeed featherweight - no offence ya.

I am just an average joe in his early 30s. Not that successful if I would to rate myself and compare to many others *cough*alkt*cough* - but enough for me provide the necessities of life to my family with a minute touch of luxury. I had to give up my hobby for 4-wheelers to venture to this bike scene. So to summarize it - I lead a very boring & practical lifestyle with little to none social life and very minimal vices in order to afford this hobby.
