First of all, let's put things in perspective... a new yamaha R1 will set you back at least RM 85k, depending on which year the bike is produced... Are you thinking of spending so much money on a superbike without knowing whether it is really going to be your cup of tea?

R1 is built for the race track, in other words it is a full-breed race bike... do you like racing? Or intend to ride regularly during open days at Sepang?

Are you ready to pay around RM 1,700 each year for insurance & RM 350 each year for roadtax?

Even if you are willing to lay down a 30% downpayment (RM 25k), at current interest rates, you will need to pay more than RM 1,200 per month (based on 5% int & 5 year repayment). Is this what you are willing to get into?

I don't know about you, but this is a serious commitment, especially if you are married (worse if you have kids).

If you really aspire to ride a liter bike, learn to ride a smaller bike first, else you might get yourself killed. (liter bikes are insanely powerful!) Check out small bikes such as the supersports (i.e. Honda CBR600rr, Kawasaki ZX6r, Suzuki GSXR600, etc), or even the smaller 250cc sports bike, they all will give you a good feel of what it is like to ride a sports bike.

I aspire to own a liter bike (the CBR1000rr) sometime this year or next year, & have research & planned extensively for it...

BTW, do you have a full B license?
