hey guys.. i'm interested to get my first superbike.. some brief info bout me.

i only got b2 license and last time used to ride ex5 bike during my secondary and uni time. but then, that was like 8 yrs ago. since then, i have sold of my bike and get myself a car.

now, i would like to get my own superbike. I'm quite short, around 166cm only. after some survey, many ppl/site recommend to get kawasaki 250r for a beginner bike.

my question are..
1. is kawasaki 250r really a good bike for beginner?
2. can i drive a 250cc bike wif b2 license?
3. if i wan to get b license, what is the requirement/etc?
4. should i get the bike now or wait till early next yr? this is because i scared that the bike depreciation will be somethin like car. if get now, it will be yr 2010 bike and will lose out extra 1 yr depreciation if compare to getting it next yr.

1. it's one of the best bikes for newbies starting out because it doesn't scare the rider so much with throttle response from what i heard. never owned one but they are quite light also so easier to maneuver.
2. as far as i know, yes.
3. you have to do same test on the open class bike (now is er6n i think), before was a virago 535, when i did mine anyways.
4. this one i cannot help you but depreciation of bike between years 1-2 generally quite steep. the more exp the bike initially the worse it gets.

250R is good starter bike but if you have the experiences of riding bike before you better take ER6...more comfort for long journey & even more top end.

shadow111, 250 is not a superbike, why dont u get er6n or cb 400, then mebbe can consider as superbike

sorry if 250 is not considered superbike.. thinking of getting this since 20+k is within my budget for a new bike.

plan to get 250 first so that i can get familiar wif such big bike since i only used to ride small bike like ex5.
once i get the hang of it, will take the full B license and maybe get a bigger cc bike.

my condition is almost the same as yours, except i never riden any bike before. currently, i ride a 250R. it is much more superbike in term of looks n ride position. its a very good beginners bike with price of 20k below. i got mine 2nd hand for 18k model year 2009. the weight and speed is almost as good as a mini superbike. n mind u, not all bikes have accurate speed meters. but this kawasaki, are quite the same with cars. well, below 100km/h tho. above that, the meter will not be that accurate.

get the kawasaki 250R. better yet, get the one with FI. Fuel Injection.

here. there is an SE versions too. cost more tho. but the performance is same like how carb version put in full exhaust system and some racing spark plug.

Honda is coming out with its CBR250r sometime early next year. A contender to Kawasaki Ninja 250r?
