An open letter to fans,

I sense a lot of discontent from our fans with the recent Greenwood saga. As your CEO, I felt it was necessary for me to provide some clarity on the thought process behind this and hopefully bring us all closer together.

Greenwood is a Manchester United player and academy graduate who had sensitive material put online. Material that has repercussions to our commercial deals and sponsors if we keep him at the club. Do you all know how much work Ed and me put in to get these deals over the line? I hope I can be clear once and for all that between the football side of things and the commercial side, the commercial side has to come first. Can I pay the Glazers in goals instead of dollars? Absolutely not. And the wages of all your favourite players are bourne by the proceeds of the work my team has done. Show some gratitude.

Of course by letting Greenwood go, it will have an effect on the footballing side. But that is why we hired Ten Hag in the first place. Please criticise him. I cannot risk my job by making his easier. After all, if you fans are unhappy with results, I can always fire him and hire another manager. Fans always forget and come back happy. Tried and true formula. It is his job to get football results. If we are successful on the pitch, it is because I have graciously given him the players he asked. Of course if he fails, he has to take the blame. Such is the life of a Premiership manager. After all, having Manchester United on his CV is reward enough.

And to the fans, we always repeat the mantra that the fans are the most important asset to the club. We all know that is not true so let's not muck around since we are having a heart to heart moment.
