QUOTE(O-haiyo @ Jun 9 2023, 04:07 PM) Hi Guys, You buying in Singapore or Malaysia? Aftershock / Illegear are both using the same chassis & suppliers.I am looking to purchase a gaming laptop. Budget not more than 5k. Anyone can recommend any? At the moment, I am looking at Aftershock. I've bought two Illegear laptops even-though I'm based in SG because the price difference & savings is a lot. When you customize, buy your own DDR+SSD+HDD because it's cheaper vs. buying from them. High-mark ups. |

![]() I purchased my laptop 3 years back from Level 51 (aftershock SG). Still working fine except the batteries life span now only can last 15 minutes without charging. I believe now you can better specs than this with much more affordable price (below rm5k). Here are some of my comments regarding the laptops. Pros: 1. Much more affordable compare to other major manufactures (MSI, Aleinware, DELL etc). The time I checked during 2020 with my spec getting a DELL would cost me extra rm 3-4k (include genuine window and offices). That being said it is major winner. 2. No lagging or malfunction on LED keyboards, screen or touchpad. Only problem is LED red light appear on some keys (rarely happen). 3. Performance wise still top-notch (run major rendering software with no issues - Lumion, Vray, etc). Only concern is the loud fan noise. Cons: 1. Very heavy maybe around 2 to 3kg. No big deal for me coz I like weight lifting. For girl, no suitable. 2. Aesthetic wise: Look rather simple and bulky. Not big deal for me too coz I prefer performance rather than fancy look. 3. No come with full window or Microsoft offices (just get it in Shopee lah). 4. Poor resolution on Webcam and Sound system also okok only (just buy the external accessories lor, want how high resolution or cinematic sound also can). 5. Major concern if your laptop spoilt (only can get the warranty in Sunway level 51). Summary: Actually the life span of a laptop/ desktop has a lot of factors to consider, not merely depend on whether it is a big/small brand. My previous laptops before I purchased this one which I had used for 3 and 5 years still working fine to-date (both Toshiba and Acer). As long as you don't overstress your CPU and GPU (always running 100% due to malware, trojan or virus), frequently cleaning the dummy, temporary and registry file, and also executing disk defragmentation (few months once) and make sure it is free from viruses and trojan. It sure can last vey long unless due to falling or hitting. |
