Saw the details - home plug charging will takes 8 hours for 100km. gila...how to use the car later.

question here. do we need to install high power charging equipment in our home? How much will cost you then?

i got wallbox when i bought my car as part of promo but the installation has to be self arranged thus i reached out to ChargEV. It was about 4-5k but that is because they adhere to regulations and ensure wiring is not "contractor standard"

they told me can get any EOM outside. not really with BMW wallbox. I will get confirmation again with them about the warranty bla bla bla..

i would expect it to price in with the car le.

if hybrid then level 1 charging is acceptable ( barely)
but if full EV then the car must com with level 2 charger liao

Anyway- there is cost for the charger, and cost for the installation- as i understand, Level 2 charger need to pull cable from main DB.
i will be a dedicated single phase from man DB, probably the cable is thicker too. The main trouble is hacking and hopefully the routing between DB and the car porch is clear and direct.

Distance from DB to charge point below 10m. Mega cable 6mm² single phase with 32A isolator. Surface mounted wiring inside conduit. Mounting of charging unit and related brackets.

BMW these days even need to pay extra for basic functions like adaptive cruise control, apple carplay, remote engine start, parking assist etc.

my office install all bmw wallbox even tho got merc, bmw, volvo, byd PHEV/BEV cars.

I got an issue with this. From what I aware just now, the new cabling started from the meter itself and not the DB box. DB box just beside the garage. But the meter? It's outside leh.
drilling works need to be done somemore..makan modal la with the EV...sigh

Yes, you may start from the meter ( to be exact, is after the meter)
the idea is, after the meter the main cable will go directly to the DB box.
if you want to take from there, you need to cut the cable, terminate to a junction box then split to 2- 1 for the original main cable back to the DB, 2 a smaller cable to the wall panel.

if this can be done- then it is outside the house.
we still need a place to house the junction box (JB), and concel the cable.

got it. I need to be ready for more extra charges bla bla due to cabling works then.

i would estimate 2-3k MYR ba.

btw- congrates on your new buy. When are you expecting to get the car?

i was considering Audi Q8 E-Tron.... nice package and pricing. but still- cant get over the hassle if need to travel outstation.

Anyone use 10mm wire instead of the standard but more than adequate 6mm wire? If looking at Mega branded cable, it is RM5.30 per meter (times 5 to get 3 phase system).
