QUOTE(lohwenli @ Oct 21 2007, 11:03 PM)
CPU microcode is like a mini BIOS in the CPU. Usually processor manufacturers will send out microcode updates to motherboard manufacturers who will include it in the mobo BIOS updates. When the system is booted after the mobo BIOS update, it will update the CPU microcode. Quite a lot of CPU bugs we're fixed this way, mostly those dealing with calculation accuracy.

Wow...thanks for the explanation smile.gif

I'm currently using Asus M2N-E ( latest bios )... I seem to be stuck at 2.9GHz on my brisbane 4000+...

Right now i'm using Multiplier = 10.5X, FSB = 278MHz, Vcore = 1.35V, Vdimm = 1.95V (My Mobo's Highest Setting)... any idea of how to reach at least 3.0 on this mobo... The settings are not very flexible though...
*
How much your max vcore supported??

i dunno what the max is... i never scrolled up until the top but i saw until 1.65 is available...

blurry... no matter what i do it seems like the proc is unstable at 2.95GHz... it doesnt restart but failed orthos and 32M pi

Use lower div somemore.
If tat speed cannot, then try to increase Vcore.
