How do they know that you’re sharing with someone not in the same house as you? hmm.gif

so no more kena log in at household address every 30 days?
*
Kena access primary network once every 30 days.

Most likely home wifi. Because they think anyone using RM55 would have home wifi.

then use VPN la easy
my home got vpn

Means you created VPN yourself.. then you need to get people that you share Netflix also access your VPN, once every 30 days? Good workaround.

1) I don't have that knowledge to do it. Even if I learn, common people have no idea.

2) Does this means if someone accessing my VPN and downloads prawn torrents, it means that I'm the one doing it?

3) Do you need more equipments other than router and modem?

ayam share within family only, so ayam trust them and i also know they nub about IT thingy
so my home got vpn if ayam outside and want access ayam NAS
depend on router (asus and tplink got this function) , can create private VPN server in router
then get ddns (liek noip.com), our home ip is dynamic, so ddns will help u autochange ur ip to DNS (called as Dynamic DNS)
*
Thank you for the info.

If no need extra equipment, I'll search how to do it.

I use maxis router, but I do have spare tplink AC router at home, not sure can create private vpn or not, will check it spec.

Damn, then might get the low user acc instead of paying 55 monthly then need to top up 26.
*
Yes, low user better just get own acc now.

The issue is.. let's say you have 4k tv.. you watch netflix on tv when home, you need 4k plan rm55. That one has +3 users you can share. If we don't share, it's like rugi..

Netflix should allow users to customize plan.. like 1 individual, can just get 1 screen that support up to 4k. Then if we want to share with family, we can add another user.. price can vary whether we want up to 720p or 1080p or another 4k.

i think maxis standard router block vpn server
i use before
*
Maxis router does indeed block a lot of features.

That's the reason I bought another TP Link router, but eventually didn't bother using it. biggrin.gif

Not sure new Maxis routers still the same or not, mine is AC router, not the new AX.

I plan to swich to unifi soon anyway. Most likely same, blocked like Maxis.

maxis use CGNAT, so you can't directly connect from internet to your router. you need public ip subscription for that (RM10/mo)

https://www.maxis.com.my/en/faq/products-se...bre-ip-address/

Unifi offer public IP for 300mb package and above
*
Aisey.. difficult if like that.

Maybe get unifi 300Mbps, much worth it than paying extra for Netflix.

So if I'm already using the RM55 plan and share with 3 other ppl, got affected?
*
Yes. People has to be in the same house, they can go outside but the app must be able to access the house wifi at least once every 30 days.

If you share with people in same neighborhood, no issues.. they just bring their phone/laptop access netflix with your wifi for awhile, it's done. But if TV, cannot lor.

what if i use phone, whole family use phone mobile plan, no wifi

Interesting question. We need answers on that, I'm not sure. Because at home, I depend on wifi entirely.

I think maybe it still can detect the location of the network each phone access to?

Like sometimes you create gmail, then you setup your new phone at the same house (even if you're in data), it detects that you're on a common network. If you setup new phone outside in different location with same gmail, it will make it tough. Maybe will work in that similar way. I'm not sure, since I depend on wifi entirely when I'm home.

So another question will be, if the primary device use Maxis 4G, then another device use Digi 4G.. maybe can't access. Or maybe can, as long location is still the same? We don't know.. need time until someone test it.

Kek.. still paying to Netlix, and it is piracy?

Like that means people who work in cinema, can get discounts for friends/family, that is piracy also.

What device you use to access that Netflix at work?

Is it phone that you also use at home? Or tablet, laptop? Or is it PC, that stays at office?

Both using PC

As of now, I would say if the PC stays at office, then you have to pay extra. As your primary network is home.

Anyway, just wait and see how this things goes, if we can set our phone as primary device, then you just open Netflix once every 30 days by connecting to the same network your office PC connected to, you should be safe.

If need to pay extra just unsubscribe, anyway i already emailed them and see their reply.  At the moment i check my billing for june still RM55.00

Don't worry, the extra payment is not auto. You have to add another user on your own, then only they'll charge. sweat.gif

For now, just continue using.
