Hi,

Planning to get a multimeter for simple home DIY stuff.

So many on the market. Which are the better/accurate/reliable one to get.

Going by the number of buys on Shopee, are the following worth getting?

cheap one is cost cutting design, if anything goes wrong, it has no safety feature - will blow up in a manner that can and will hurt. This blow up usually happen when wrong mode is selected.
its like using a car without airbag and seatbelt whistling.gif

if you just use for AA battery or 9V battery test any meter will work, however don't use elcheapo meter for AC (mains) work.

IMPORTANT- if you are touching 230V u need at least a CAT III 300V rated meter.

Kyoritsu clamp meter KEW2117R will serve you well, safely. thumbup.gif
Else Uni-T UT201 to 204 (some new version old version- diff by red clamp black clamp- u research urself lah) clamp meter.

1. Cat III 300V rated
2. Clamp meter for contactless AMPS measurement. See #5
3. Auto-ranging make life easier
4. True RMS measures modded waves better (inverter output).

5. Note: NOT all clamp meter can measure capacitance.
6. NCV light, test pen light, all need Live-Dead-Live and best to just shutdown power when working on 230V.
