KUALA LUMPUR: The government is subsidising the cost of flight tickets for Sabahans and Sarawakians to return home to their respective states for the upcoming Kaamatan and Gawai festivals, says transport minister Loke Siew Fook.

Loke said the price of a one-way flight ticket to the East Malaysian states will be capped at RM300.

“However, this price does not include taxes and fees,” he said in a press conference today.

The government is expected to spend between RM5.8 million to RM11.4 million to subsidise the flight tickets for Sabahans and Sarawakians.

I remember saw few of the comments requesting for affordable flight during SS native festival. Salute for Anthony Loke for the promptly respond.

Stupid move. Endless subsidies continue to be wasted on rakyat for non nation improvements for future. IF cannot afford, then don't go back this year.
Subsidies should be put to provide free education/ extra education allowance until tertiary levels for all eligible Malaysians for the new generations to earn a better living for themselves instead of just relying on endless subsidies/handouts which sooner rather then later will bankrupt the nation.
