I notice that there's no thread to gather all of the bike pics or places of interest that you have been.
Most people (including me) just post at the casual bike talk. And it'll soon be lost in all of the casual talk that we do over there.

So maybe a specific thread to gather all of the interesting places that you have been with your bike.
A placeholder of some sort so that others can maybe visit or plan to visit the same place.

In order to do that, include the GPS coordinate for the location or at least a rough guide to the place.

Needed to be extracted by a 4x4 after slipping off the "road"

The s123s were completely useless on mud and dirt... Hahahaha... Not that it was meant to be anyway. Crashed on the way down, crashed on the way up. Need my 30/70s back...

But fun.

No rear traction on the rear, no forward momentum to plow through....... Heavy bike + camping gear... Whatever happened was inevitable.

Yeah. Rained the previous day and the morning. Hard clay with a layer of soft clay on top. You really need knobbies for that sort of environment. Even my old 30/70s would pack up with clay and turn to slicks. My front corsa cross X were completely useless too.

Slid for 20m going downhill before I decided to dump the bike as I was heading for the trees. Minor damage on the shifter and crash bar but that's the benefit of the dominar. Tough bike and cheap spare parts. You won't want to do this with a 1250gs or any big, heavy and expensive bike.

Going up was the repeat just with lower velocity.

Important is you don't get injured. Full gear helps.

The other one is indeed genting. But it's off limits now after the batang Kali incident. You can probably picnic there for a short time but no more camping allowed. Left right side on the road, 200m from that petron mini roundabout to Amber court.

Right. If I were to replace the shifter and crash bar, the damage bill will be 70 and change.

And smaller , lighter bikes will be easier to handle off road.

You don't need a big expensive bike to have an adventure. In many cases you might just have even more fun and adventure on a kapchai. Light, reliable, cheap to run, go anywhere capability.

If you are an avid cyclist, I can probably assume your bicycle is more expensive than my Dominar 400....and many other bikes for that matter.

Something like this will have better go-anywhere-capability than a big adventure bike for estimated 6.5k. coming in later this year.

actually you'll only feel hot if you're stuck in traffic.
out in the open road, you won't feel hot since the moving wind will cool you down.

Sometimes a bit kebas during the trip. Need to reposition here and there.
Every 2-3 hours or so I stop to topup petrol and have a drink.

But nothing like a sore bum or numb hands. That's why I could ride back to kedah the next morning.

Perghhh tabik spring.

Just got my passport renewed today for the Ampang - Pakbara ride at the end of the month with my wife. That's a good 8 hours at least with all the necessary breaks in between.

I can't do all those iron butt endurance rides ppl like to do now that I'm diabetic at 50. Tambah dgn cholesterol meds lagi lah, that shit saps energy. Dulu badan kuat, redah je... now hv to manage my energy levels coz if I tire out it buggers my concentration when riding which freaks me out coz it's dangerous.

Kadang-kadang jeles gak tengok org bikin the Thousand Corner ride and even the Tri Nation ride within a week. I'll need 2 weeks to do it, but that's the kind of break I can't afford to take given my work and studies.

I did that with another buddy one and a half years ago, Friday afternoon Danok, Saturday go Phuket, Sunday back

I did kl direct to phuket in a day june last year with 2 friends.. 16hrs on the road....was fun but exhausting

8 of those hours were with a wet boot coz we got caught under sudden heavy rain....my friend n i got fungal infection on our feet after that...sheesh.

Bought waterproof riding pants to pair with my waterproof boots so water won't go in from the top. Them fungal infections r fucking annoying

that is not good... I prefer 'air' boots, with thin socks, so yes they soak up, but they dry up also
but, first time hear fungal at feet from rain water.... other parts kena fungal after a trip to Thai is more... common

how long before the feet recovers? I heard they stay on for quite a while, and desperate measure calls for bleach soak

my trip was mostly dry with drizzles, adding to the road constructions along the way, so our bikes were covered in red/brown grit which took a few washes to get rid of

eventually, I may go for overland adventure motorcycling with those waterproofing gears, but right now, I don't mind getting wet and uncomfortable at the expense of travelling light, though I do pack a set of very old, leaking rain overalls. I am more worried about grip, traction, braking and visibility when it comes to that because I would hate to stop and prefer to keep moving and enjoy every moment

last time when using kapcai to go Sepang watch MotoGP, a good water-beading helmet visor was all I needed to make my way in the rain

Its not the rain water...its the prolonged damp environment....n its not just water...sweat too...n lets admit it....everyones feet is gonna be some form of dirty no matter wat.

Fungal infection on feet also known as athletes foot.

Can be 2-3 weeks with treatment..ive had longer n have heard of even longer..that includes creams n also bleach soak. I also carry anti fungal.powder which i put on before wearing the boots n after reaching destination n mandi. Also when the infection is active...all this to try keep the feet dry. Worst part, once u get it....very high chance of it coming back. Didnt learn about all this shit untill i actually kena the damn thing.

Actually bleach soak/baths are good to have periodically.... especially if u have eczema. We malaysians are more into dettol baths, but dettol only works for virus n bacteria n germs...whereas bleach is all encompassing as it kills everything...ratio is abt the same as a typical swimming pool water.

I dont like stopping for rain hence the waterproof boots n pants. Jacket is still mesh as legs getting warm isnt an issue but body getting warm can be bad....will wear raincoat if the rain looks like.its.gonna be heavy n long.

my mantra in finding the next bike is finding one that is comfortable to ride as it is.
even if it's a bit uncomfortable for me then bye bye no matter how much i like it.

a comfortable bike on stock with a bit of tweak here and there will make it even more comfortable for long distance.
currently the tiger is more comfortable than driving my car. no aircond, no glass bubble, no AV system but i'd rather take the bike to KL than the car.

*
yeah man i'd rather take it nice and slow nowadays.
there's so much to enjoy while riding.

the tip that i'm using for any long term tour is 5 4 3 2 1
5 underwear
4 shirt
3 trousers
2 socks
1 jacket
and whatever that i'm are currently wearing.

that is all that i need. fill only hallf of my backpack.
after 2-3 days i visit the coin laundry.

tried some of the all weather riding gear with closeable vents.
not enough ventilation. hot.

i'd rather wear mesh jacket and carry a raincoat. cheaper and more comfortable.

Waterproof touring jacket & pants are impossibly hot when it doesn't rain, which is 85% of the time. To me, heat exhaustion is a bigger threat compared to getting soaked.

So when touring, I too go with a mesh jacket and dri-fit clothes underneath that dry quickly. You'll get wet when it rains but the idea is to dry out quickly afterwards as you ride due to the airflow and textile choice. In our weather, the mesh jacket is enough to keep me from shivering compared to not wearing a jacket at all.

If I'm expecting really heavy rain, my hi-viz yellow rainsuit comes on.

I keep 2 complete change of clothes and shoes in the office. On the return trip home, however, who cares if I get soaked to the bone coz I'll need a bloody shower after work anyway.

First trip of 2024 to Thailand & Penang. She was supposed to ride her own bike, but neither of her bikes was available to make the trip.

If you heard the news saying visitors to Thailand are required to bring 15000 baht cash with them, well... bollocks. Customs didn't ask jack shit other than for the 20 baht fee to process the paperwork for bringing my own vehicle into Thailand.

Oh.. here's an interesting observation... my previous Michelin Anakee Adventure 100/90-19 front used to tramline quite a bit, where it would grab any rut in the tarmac. The new cheapo Maxxis MaxxVenture 110/80-19 doesn't do it anymore! Pretty happy so far for the paltry RM950 (incl installation & balancing) I paid for the set! And I enjoyed the newfound silence of the non-blocky tread pattern throughout the 1350km trip.

The new Future Eyes F150 aux lights' yellow low beam was a godsend coz it rained like hell on the return leg. It was useful without pissing off other drivers with the blinding blast of white light of the previous set.

Probably just the lighting of the day. Nothing in front of the headlamp. Bike had some dew/ condensation over the night.
