Bought my plate number AML but its expiring this month
P.S im temporary traveling out this month for few months ill be away from malaysia. And just realized my plate number is expiring.

Need advice : A) What is the cost of extension i heard that you need to pay the same amount you bought ? To just extend it to 6months

b) Just let it expire its not so popular number and just register when im back in few months ? And anyway need to pay the pricei bought when ill register or this rule dont apply.

c) Rush and buy any cheap motorbike now ?

Option C - interchange bike

It depends how much you really want to keep that number you bid for, if it's super especial and rare and etc. You can:-

1) Arrange with a motorcycle shop to "park" the number on a cheap new kapcai (usually China one I guess), then when your dream vehicle is available, you can interchange onto your new dream vehicle. I'm not sure on what are the fees the shop will charge, but they definitely have such service.

2) Buy a cheap kapcai and put the number on it, and interchange when to the new vehicle of your dreams.

3) I don't think they allow to extend the period anymore. You may have to jumpa Pengarah or Timbalan Pengarah to make the request, no guarantee they will allow it, and of course there are fees involved to extend if they do allow it.

I would suggest go ask motorcycle shops which provide such services first, then decide whether it's worth keeping or not.. And then which options will be cheapest for your case..
