friend, hdd and sdd mega different, hdd is very old meta, ssd is the current meta, the speed transfer is very different and super fast than hdd.
hdd was once use a lot during 2000 to 2012 / 2013 after ssd was install in a lot laptop / desktop. |

Depends how often you mean by less often power on. https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/...s_or_ssds_last/ For back up mirror purposes, I'd go HDD. wkkm007 liked this post

Whatever you get just power it on every six months, or at the very least check on it once a year. Ideally if you want to backup really important data the rule of thumb is to have 3 copies, 2 different media type, 1 offsite backup.

Go for HDD, if you don't want to be bothered about this.

No matter SSD or HDD, it might still failed. It's best to keep multiple backup regardless of backup devices.

Purely data retention, definitely HDD. But, the most secure form of data backup is redundancy.

My experience HDD damage faster than SSD if using daily.
But for long term storage (seldom power on), use HDD. My SSD lost data after 4 years never power on. |

My advice is not to buy any computer memory products from Chyna. Very high risk.
