Kids are not advised to cross road by themselves because they lack the ability to judge the speed of oncoming vehicles.

I would expect a licensed road user to be better at it. Anyway, bad decision on the road can end in tragedy, whether not stopping when exiting junction or failure to judge oncoming traffic speed.

If the rider just come out suddenly and is in the blind spot of the car, nothing can save it. Just my 2 sens because many times I encountered as such.
