Hi I am currently work as sales executive. I have switched to current company just early of 2023. Current company is looking for expanding their business but the progress is stalling and slow until recently. I am expecting will not fully started another next 1 or 2 months until the product is ready.
Now i have been offered by another company with 15% increment with travel expenses claim.
Is jumping to new company at this short period good for me?
*Mistake there*

How long is your probation period? Is there any clause in your contract that prohibits you from joining competitor company for certain period of time?

If you are still under probation period then accept new job while your notice period is about a week right? It's a good job, better to accept better pay job now than to regret later

FYI, this "non competition clause" in invalid even if its stated in the company's policy or offer letter. https://asklegal.my/p/malaysian-employers-c...iction-of-tradehttps://www.chernco.com.my/noncompetition/#...20the%20company.

I was in a bit of the same shoes some years back, I was in a sales position but company kind of wanted to trim the team and I felt insecure.
So I went for a few interviews and jumped ships twice I find it hard not to jump ship because I know deep down I owe it to myself to find out, (it pays better) and It was a better known company. But I did not stay at the next ship long as I was given another better offer from another company just shortly after. I had switched from three unrelated industries , the title get granted each times , so has the basic pay, but it was all sales job.
That is great thing about being in sales, the fundamentals are all the same.
if you are good, some company will call u back if things don't work out. Mine did. I found out only later from the HR when they were doing exit interview, the management had labelled my file as "reemployment possible"
So try to explain your resignation and discuss amicably with your current employer, but apologize that your decision is made after long and hard thought. Thank them profusely for given the opportunity to work with them, admit you have learnt and grow a lot, but time has just come for you to move on. Be Frank with them , and leave in good terms.
I did not know it
