Not a very good sign. Your motherboard may have became defective.
Were you able to get to the CMOS screen and take a look at the hardware settings?

Here is one thing worth to try:
1. Turn off & unplug the power cord from the laptop. Remove the battery, hard drive, CD/DVD drive(if they're removable) and memory modules(be careful above static electricity).
2. Wait 30 minutes.
3. Put everything back.
4. Cross your fingers & power up.
