
KUALA LUMPUR: A couple has claimed trial before the sessions court on a charge of exploiting an Indonesian domestic worker.
Lum Kah Wai and his wife, Loke Chee Hui, pleaded not guilty to the charge this morning.
They were charged under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 for exploiting the victim with the use of force.
If found guilty, they face a jail term of up to 15 years and a fine.
Judge Azura Alwi granted bail of RM10,000 each in one surety and fixed June 6 for the next mention.
Lum and Loke were ordered to surrender their passports to the court pending the disposal of their case.
