Some T20s are T20s because they understand the difference between price and value.
Also ppl are prioritizing paying for "experience" rather than a tangible object.. (oversea trips, eating out with frens and family)
Probably ppl are more obsess with the latest Iphones, gadgets..
Not to mention, raising a child is very expensive these days. Some T20 living in urban areas couldnt afford lavish life style.

Some are for "disguising" purpose as they wouldn't want their office peers that they are better off than others.

Further more, new cars like Vios would have more features and safer than a Camry 20 years ago. From a value perspective, modern cars like best bang for bucks. The space is even on par with older Corollas...

City is larger than then old Accord of the 80's.. and HRV is slowing growing on size to match older 1st gen CRV
