.................

Same with PS3, except DTS-HD MA, which could be easily fixed in the future firmware update.

And that's the beauty of it, easily updated compared to stand-alone players. PiP (Profile 1.1) we already have with the recent update, and it's announced that there will be BD-Live (Profile 2.0) update in future. thumbup.gif

I thought this is not confirmed yet? this was all over AVS forum. No?

If its possible its good, but im not prefer Game console as BD players. smile.gif

I always trust Blu-ray.com:

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=813

Now, the one that's to be doubt is Sony itself if that's not true.

I guess it's one of those words, like "parley", who Jack Sparrow (Captain!) says created by the French?  hmm.gif  tongue.gif

I've got 3 shippings, all standard (saving cost tongue.gif ).

None of them ever arrived yet. Maybe because of holiday season. But it's over already. getting worried.  sweat.gif

Then I'll write an email to Amazon...  sweat.gif

Hi ppl,

After so much hassle and headache, im decided to pull the plug and go ahead with PS3 as my blu-ray player. haha smile.gif I guess PS3 is the best profile 1.1 players out there plus upgradeable in the future with very reasonable cost.

few question before spending the greens:

1. versions. I guess theres quite number of PS3 version out there (asian, japan etc etc) in malaysia suppose to be asian right? so i could play all those blu-ray purchased from amazon?

2. If i use onkyo 605 as a receiver, would i get to enjoy all those holy grail of HD audio (DTS-HD, Dolby True-HD)? from what i understand 605 only accept bitstream for these HD audio? kindly explain..

3. Would DTS-HD MA will be added into the PS3 upgrade in the future?

sorry for the lame questions. smile.gif

2. those lights (DTS-HD+trueHD) on the onkyo won't light up when paired with ps3..
3. dunno.. sony did not confirm or deny..

1. Asian/Jap/US all Region A....for blu-ray should be no problem but DVD are region locked
2. If the player can send out as bitstream, then yes, or if the player decode and send as PCM, yes also only those fancy lights won't turn on (PS3 does that except for dts-ma)
3. it is confirm that PS3 can't bitstream dts-ma out but we have hope that it would decode and sent out as PCM.

apis, no more hd dvd for u?

no light up, but u can still enjoy the truehd audio
*
Blu-Ray for now smile.gif

Thanks for the reply.

So, i still can enjoy those sounds, except the indicator lights wont come up. Nothing affect the audio performance? I should hear what Dolby True-HD should be heard rite?
