Hi guys,

Just wanna ask: Do a majority of you guys acquire BD movies from Amazon? I've read [here on LYN] about people buying them on Amazon in small quantities (to avoid tax), etc.

Just wanted to see what method the majority of you all used to get BD movies... Am tempted to purchase one from the local stores just to finally see what a BD film quality would look like but the prices are a little too expensive at the moment...

(I've owned a PS3 since July, but no movies, all games).

Amazon shipped out on 19th Oct....now I can sleep....
*
What kind of shipping did you pick? I bought the same thing and I chose std Int'l shipping (the cheapest); Amazon says shipped out on Oct 18th, estimate Nov1- Nov9 arrival...

Have not received it yet (although I realise today's only the 1st)...getting a little anxious...

So my order (POTC 1 & 2) shipped on Oct 18th, and estimated arrival was to be between 1st and 9th Nov.

Until now I have not received anything, not even a 'surat tahan'.

Should I be worried?

Ask how? As in call the Post Office at KLIA? Ask them if they're holding a package for me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

schatten, wat kind of shipping did you choose?

if i were u, i would wait a few days more, maybe on the 16th, and just send an email to amazon stating ur not receiving

i do not know whether other country the same or not, but a lot ppl here received their packages later, much later than the ETA
so they will email to amazon, hence amazon will send replacement in a faster shipping type and in the end, u get 2 copies of wat you bought

if this is done to often, im afraid wat if amazon doesnt wanna ship to oversea country specifically malaysia? or restrict to only priority shipping to our country?

u guys go think abt it

*PS: spore pun sama biggrin.gif and some even exploit this method
*
I chose the cheapest (rest assured I will NOT be doing that again!)

I was also thinking of waiting a little longer, just not sure how worried I should be that some damn Postal worker may have pinched my goods (er... sounded kinda wrong).

I guess I'll wait a little longer, hopefully things will turn out okay. Nice to know Amazon will send replacements; I'd pay for shipping but I wouldn't wanna bear the entire cost again.

Re: New offer - Goddamn it how come The Prestige isn't on the list?!!? I was gonna get that with Stranger Than Fiction (two of my favorite films of '06).

Thanks for the info RX

Question: For future purchases, should I go with Expedited Shipping or Priority Int'l Courier?

I won't be going with standard int'l anymore with my current experience, but is Expedited any better? Is it gonna be worth it to courier (and still be cheaper than buying locally)?

crap...pray hard...i'm on international shipping.  doh.gif

Pray very hard. My second order placed Nov 12 using priority shipping arrived yesterday; first order in October using standard int'l = nowhere to be seen... blink.gif

*Update* - Emailed Amazon, they said I 'deleted my shipping address' (WTF shakehead.gif ) and therefore have refunded me. Which is fine, but a bit puzzling since I ordered 4 other BDs and had them shipped to the same place and they arrived fine.

Oh well, thank goodness the Buy-1-Free-1 deal is still good for the films I wanted (POTC 1&2) and now, having learnt my lesson, have gone with priority shipping...

Planet Earth Question:

I've read here that while BBC's Planet Earth is remarkable, that I'm better off waiting for a 5-disc set release instead of the current 4-disc version currently available.

Can I ask where this information is from? As in, when did the BBC ever say they'll be releasing the 5-disc set on BD?

Just curious, since I'd like to get Planet Earth sometime soon...

go amazon.co.uk and search planet earth , u will unederstand

Okay, so I see there is a 5-disc set available. But besides the single user-review that speculates that "BBC may be setting themselves up for a 'collector's edition'," is there any other source of confirmation that this is even going to happen?

(I too am waiting for a version with all the extra goodies shot in HD to be included, just wanted to know if it's within the realm of possibility, or is it just collective wishful-thinking)

Again, thanks for that but it's not exactly answering the question.

Anyone else have (any) slightly more tangible evidence that a 5-disc BD Planet Earth (with all HD-goodies) is in the works?
