Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting a PS3 primarily as a Blu-Ray player since I heard that it performs pretty well in playing Blu-Ray discs.Do you think it is worth getting a PS3 just for that?Of course I could pick up a game or two from time to time.

Which model should I grab, the 60gb or 80gb one?I'm leaning towards the 60gb for its cheaper price unless the 80gb has something important that I need.I don't think I'd want the 40gb model because it dropped support for SACD playback and PS2 games, unless it is significantly cheaper than 60gb model.
Please advise, thanks smile.gif .

Hehe, i got the older brother to that mean black hot a/v receiver...Onkyo TX-SR705 !!..works like a charm and sound superb. Went for 705 for its THX capability instead of 605 and more wattage per channel. DTS-HD wohohohoho !!! Still waiting PS3 to enable bitstream 5.1. Now 5.1 LPCM with no problem.

Wish i could get myself a Denon...but that would cost a bomb !!

PS3 will not be able to bitstream DTS-HD MA nor Dolby TrueHD because of its HDMI 1.3 chip's limitation, it is a hardware limitation so a firmware update can't fix it.We can only hope for a long overdue update for it to decode DTS-HD MA internally.Yeah, it's sad we still can't see the words DTS-HD MA nor Dolby TrueHD flashing on our brand new receivers unless we get new players.

Sorry Stringfellow, I have nothing against Onkyo. icon_rolleyes.gif

In fact, I did recommend it for our fellow members through PMs.  nod.gif

And, I got the RX-V1800 for below RM4000.  tongue.gif

I have edited my post above, actually before I saw your post.  laugh.gif

Wow where did you get it at that price?I got mine for above RM4000 doh.gif .Though admittedly HDMI 1.3 receivers are largely not put on stores' shelves at the time.

From Desa Home Theater Kepong through special, very special deal. whistling.gif  thumbup.gif

I thought not to reveal the shop online, I feared that everyone will rush there asking the same price, and the shop will hire a hitman to go after me. tongue.gif

But what the heck, I'm actually giving free publicity for them. Try to bargain for the best price.  nod.gif

Oh normally I buy my stuff from Desa Low Yat but at the time I don't think they brought it in either.Shortly after I bought mine elsewhere suddenly they displayed all sorts of HDMI 1.3 receivers on the shelves already sweat.gif
