SEPANG, April 7 — The Selangor state government is confident that the state will be able to increase its contribution to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) to 30 per cent between 2025 and 2026.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that this will be driven by projects such as the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS) as well as the NCT Smart Industrial Park (NCT).
“With the injection of projects like NCT and IDRISS, we are confident that we can galvanise more economic activities,” he said to reporters after the NCT Group of Companies’ Smart Industrial Park’s groundbreaking ceremony here today.
He added that such major initiatives would boost the state’s economic growth and subsequently increase its contribution to the national GDP, which stood at 24.8 per cent in 2021.
Amirudin said despite the absence of major projects, Selangor’s contribution to Malaysia’s GDP had increased by between 0.2 per cent and 0.5 per cent per annum since 2018. — Bernama
Possible? With the investments in Johor, Sarawak and Penang, Selangor might be overtaken as the top GDP contributor and richest state.
Johor I think got the most investment from ther CCP MOU last month
Penang always got new projects, latest is the South Island reclaimation project. No wonder PN is always trying to take over.
